When I’m asking friends, family, or a store associate for fashion ideas, I don’t just say: “work bag.”  Instead I say what I’m *really* after, like: “I’m looking for a black leather work bag that’s comfortable, fits my laptop, and is appropriate for customer meetings.” 💼 Now with AI, technology is finally catching up to how we actually shop!  At Google, we're leading this shift with AI that’s both conversational and agentic – meaning you can say what you want and then it’ll help you buy it: → Conversational: You can ask a shopping question in AI Mode (and follow up conversationally to refine), and get an AI-organized response that brings together rich visuals and all the details you need (like price, reviews, and inventory info). And we’re also bringing new shopping features to the Gemini app! Put another way, welcome to the era of "vibe shopping" :) → Agentic: Our agentic AI can call nearby businesses to check on products (like if the store has what you’re looking for in-stock) and promotions.  And with agentic checkout, Google can track an item’s price and when the price drops for eligible merchants, you can give Google permission to complete the purchase for you. These updates are designed to support a thriving ecommerce ecosystem.  Shoppers get to delegate the tedious parts of online shopping (but keep the fun and control!), and merchants can capture high-intent sales that might have otherwise been abandoned. It’s pretty awesome to see advancements like these even change my own shopping behavior.  This is the bag I ended up getting… with a very cute model, our cat Paris :) Great insights on Google’s shopping AI transformation from The Verge: https://lnkd.in/gxCKcGDQ

I’m sure you’ve heard of vibe coding – this is the season of vibe shopping 😉 Like many of us, I love to shop — browsing, finding what I like, and envisioning how it fits into my life. But the endless scrolling, comparing prices, and clicking through filters can feel like work. With AI, we can take more of the drudgery out of shopping, so you can focus on the fun parts. We launched several new features to do just that, starting to roll out today: 🛍️ Conversational shopping is now available in AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app. Rather than typing in keywords or selecting filters, you can just describe what you’re looking for, like you would to a friend, and get a response with product images, accurate prices, reviews, and inventory information to help you choose. It’s all powered by our Shopping Graph – so it’s info that you can trust, with the latest prices and availability. 📞 Agentic AI-powered calling is now available for local inventory, so Google can call nearby businesses on your behalf to find out if they have a certain product, how much it costs, and if there are any special promos. It is powered by our Duplex technology, which already keeps things like store holiday hours up to date on Maps and Search. A Gemini upgrade also helps us identify the best stores to call, suggest helpful questions to ask based on the product you want, and send a summary of your key takeaways and options. 🏷️ Lastly, we’re starting to roll out agentic checkout – track the price on a product you’re interested in, and when the price drops within your budget, Google will buy it for you with your permission. This helps consumers who don’t want to miss out, and for merchants to get high-intent sales that they may not have captured. You can try these new features out starting today. That text message you got about a "stuck package" or an "unpaid road toll"? It's not just annoying spam. It's the calling card of a sophisticated, global scam that has already swindled victims out of millions of dollars. Protecting you is always our priority. Today, we're sharing the bold steps we're taking to fight back against these criminals. We're filing litigation to completely dismantle "Lighthouse," a massive "Phishing-as-a-Service" operation that has harmed more than 1 million global victims. We are also endorsing bipartisan bills in the U.S. Congress to protect everyone from scams. Learn more from Google’s General Counsel Halimah DeLaine Prado.

Today, we are taking significant action against a global phishing-as-a-service operation known as Lighthouse. Our lawsuit targets the malicious actors behind this service, aiming to dismantle its core infrastructure, which has defrauded and stolen from millions through fake package and toll texts. But we’re not stopping there. In addition to taking legal action to combat one operation, we are also endorsing bipartisan legislation that can help empower law enforcement to fight scams like these more broadly. By combining the full force of the law, technical innovation, and public policy advocacy, we can help keep people safe online.

Today, we published a paper, “AI and the Future of Learning,” outlining Google’s approach to building AI to help improve learning outcomes for everyone. Here are 5 takeaways: 1) AI has the potential to reduce barriers to education and unlock human potential.  2) This transformation hinges on paying attention to how people learn — the science of learning. 3) That’s why Google’s tools for learning are grounded in best-in-class learning science, and the AI models that power them are rooted in pedagogical principles. 4) Realizing the promise of AI in education demands collaborative efforts among technology companies, educators, policymakers, and learners.  5) To navigate challenges like academic integrity, we must equip educators and students with the AI literacy needed to use these tools most beneficially. We’ll be sharing more insights from our paper over the coming weeks. Read more → https://goo.gle/47YuXhc
