Today, at our Quantum Developer Conference, we’re unveiling major updates in hardware and software that move us closer to delivering large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing while enabling our users and partners to realize quantum advantage: ⚛️ IBM Quantum Nighthawk: our most advanced quantum processor yet, designed to complement high-performing quantum software and deliver quantum advantage in 2026. 📊 Experimentation: With our partners, we're releasing three new experiments to an open quantum advantage tracker. Our initial results are comparable to leading classical simulation methods, and we look forward to working with the community to validate the first cases of quantum advantage. 🧠 IBM Quantum Loon: our proof-of-concept quantum processor demonstrating all the hardware elements of fault-tolerant quantum computing. Six billion. That's how many times a barcode is scanned every day around the globe. Introduced in 1973, this simple set of lines was our answer to a major industry challenge. It streamlined checkouts, transformed inventory management, and paved the way for the data-rich supply chains we rely on today. As global supply chains become increasingly complex, the need for smarter, more sustainable systems has never been greater. Earlier this year, the #IBMImpactAccelerator launched a new request for proposals focused on strengthening supply chains around the world. Today, I’m excited to announce the five organizations selected to join this new cohort. Together with IBM experts, they will apply IBM’s AI, Cloud, and data technologies to modernize supply chains by reducing costs and expanding access to sustainable infrastructure.  ✔️ Al Baha University, in Saudi Arabia, will develop an AI framework to coordinate fleet management operations in real time, reducing idle times, fuel use, and emissions across logistics hubs. ✔️ NREL Foundation will collaborate on an AI-enabled “data room” to strengthen resilience across food, energy, and water systems, beginning in Indonesia and expanding across Southeast Asia and the Pacific. ✔️ Polytechnique Montréal will develop an AI and quantum-enabled decision-support tool for Canada’s forest value chain, improving supply-chain decisions while balancing cost, energy use, and emissions. ✔️ UNIDO will create a digital solution to assess countries’ readiness for the digital and AI economy, piloting in Brazil and Mexico before scaling globally. ✔️ World Resources Institute will develop an AI-enabled mapping capability using satellite imagery to detect and classify solar systems, supporting equitable energy-access planning beginning in India, with plans to expand to Kenya and beyond. We’re in an era where advanced technologies like AI are moving beyond innovation labs and into communities, helping to solve real infrastructure and sustainability challenges. This new cohort will show what’s possible when we combine global expertise with local insight to build stronger, more resilient supply chains. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/e8FKk-Xr

A Rubik’s Cube in space, and two robots teaming up to find it. This is a new step for collaboration aboard the International Space Station. 🤖 In July, the AI-powered assistant CIMON and the autonomous camera Int-Ball2 communicated and worked together in real time, marking the first time two robotic systems from different space agencies have successfully collaborated. Using IBM watsonx Natural Language Processing, CIMON understood astronaut voice commands and shared the instructions with Int-Ball2 to complete their game of hide-and-seek.
