Only a short stay (2 nights), would have liked to stay longer as there are plenty of places of interest in the town, which makes a good centre for a holiday, and in the surrounding area. Hardwick Hall (National Trust) is nearby and well worth a visit.Guest review byKathyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We found a lovely cafe called the Garden room. reasonably priced and quirky. Order the Homity pie my hubby really loved it. Lots of interesting kitsch witchy places. I met Derek the Dalek in Matlock at PunnyDukes it's down a small side street. The Matlock park is lovely full of cheeky ducks it's right by the Garden room cafe.Guest review byLyndaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Staying in the centre of Bakewell meant we could leave the car and enjoy the many pubs and restaurants in the town. Also plenty of shops to look around. Not far to travel by bus or car to the many other towns and sights nearby. Would recommend the Woodyard for eating.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character.
Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character. One Sunday a month they have the Treacle Market, but it was cancelled due to Storm Bert. The silk museum was also closed, which was disappointing, so it could be worth another trip. We were only there overnight but felt a really pleasant vibe. It's set in a hilly landscape, and you are constantly reminded of this when looking around as you walk round town. Stunning.Guest review byleon antonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Stockport´s location in a ravine with a Victorian viaduct towering overhead makes for a very unusual and intriguing town. Also most interesting are the timber frame houses one finds from Tudor times. Lots of pubs and not generic ones either.Guest review byDominic - 8.0

Ashbourne is very quiet because most of the houses are second homes. Lost a lot of locals, doctor, post office and shop. . The pub food wasn’t brilliant so had to go further afield. Very pretty village where locals can’t afford houses Seems to be a problem in all rural areas .Guest review byColinUnited Kingdom - 8.0
