Abstract
A process for producing a plasma display panel (1) having a magnesium oxide film (18). Throughout the steps ranging from the deposition of a magnesium oxide film (18) to the closing of the internal space, the magnesium oxide film (18) is isolated from the air. The process includes a treatment (71) in which the magnesium oxide film (18) deposited is exposed to an oxygenic atmosphere having a higher partial oxygen pressure than in the film deposition and a treatment (73) in which the magnesium oxide film (18) exposed to the oxygenic atmosphere is exposed to a low-pressure atmosphere having a higher degree of vacuum than the oxygenic atmosphere. After the magnesium oxide film (18) is exposed to the low-pressure atmosphere, the internal space is closed.
