Koblenz is a beautiful city with a lot to see.
Koblenz is a beautiful city with a lot to see. Has a number of castles and churches to visit, and excellent restaurants. A number of sights to visit throughout the city. Rented a car and drove to some castles of the many that are in the region. The city is safe to walk around. Numerous sights to see around the city, such as, Basilica St Castor, Liebfrauenkirche, Deutsches Eck; where the River Mosel and River Rhine come together and massive statute of Emperor Wilhelm i, Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, Schloss Stolzenfels, and Jesuitenplatz. City worthwhile to visit with a lot of sights to see.Guest review byJoseUnited States - 8.0

The town is a tourist magnet, but for those who know the Rheingau also a Mecca, neighbouring Gesienheim has the University where many Rheingau wine makers will have studied. The whole Rheingau is within reach, the steep Rüdesheim vineyards above the town are wonderful and peaceful for walking, those with less energy can take the chairlift. We tried the Spanish restaurant near the Bahnhof and Breuer's Schloss restaurant opposite (4 metres away) from the Hotel Lindenwirt where we stayed and also ate and drank. They had some nice (think craft) alco free beers.Guest review byDr. MichaelGermany - 10.0
Lovely town, English menu's in most restaurant's.
Lovely town, English menu's in most restaurant's. Long flat promenade to walk along, English widely spoken, lots of restaurants and cafe's, but it felt that 90% were Pizza restaurants. I saw two banks, Volksbank & Sparkasse, Volksbank is on the Market Square 60 seconds from the promonade and has an ATM with English instructions. It also has non ATM machines, look for the one with the keypad. Some small businesses only accept cash so the ATM availability is important. Boat trips on the Rhine are available including an all day return trip to Rudesheim so you get to view the entire Rhine Gorge twice. The cable car costs 11 Euro's return, cash & cards accepted, it takes you to the viewing point for the definative River Rhine photo (see photo's). Boppard is an excellent place to stay on the mighty River Rhine.Guest review byAntonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Its a small Rhine River town with a nice selection of stores. It's quiet and an old castle you can walk or drive up to. It's a great small town to take a break within short dive to explore other Rhine towns north and south of St Goar.Guest review byPeterUnited States - 10.0

Bingen is like Rudesheim but without the tourists, a great local place with excellent facilities and a beautiful river front. Friendly locals with good restaurants and a great wine shop selling choice of local wines which is why we always stay in this area.Guest review bycolinUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Bacharach is truly a hidden gem in Germany.
Bacharach is truly a hidden gem in Germany. I had one day to explore Germany before meeting up with my tour group, and I read Rick Steve's Germany book and he recommended the Rhine Valley. He also recommends Bacharach as a city to set up base in. Bacharach is such an interesting town! So much history, much of the original buildings are still intact and in use. I did the Bacharach historical walk from Rick Steve's book and it took about an hour and a half. So relaxing and enriching. there's also a K-D tour boat that stops in Bacharach so you can travel up and down the Rhine and view sites such as the Lorely,Guest review byPowley - 6.0

Very nice: ancient, historic buildings, very green and garden-rich surrounding, a lot of benches to sit down and enjoy the view on lovely river Lahn. Not so nice: the « heart » of the village called Roemerstrasse shows a lot of closed shops/empty spaces, conveying a bit the « look & feel of a ghosttown ». That was very much different in former times when it was pulsating with a lot of boutiques and other shops.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Remagen was convenient for me for an overnight st, coming by train from Edinburgh on the day, and likewise as an overnight stop on the last day of my holiday. All travel was, of course, by train. On my first visit I had to visit 'the bridge'. A very historic place.Guest review byAlex BomphrayUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Koblenz is a fantastic city packed with history, charm, and plenty to explore. I highly recommend taking a scenic boat cruise along the Rhine — it’s one of the best ways to appreciate the stunning river landscapes and picturesque castles dotting the hills. Don’t miss the cable car ride up to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views over the Deutsches Eck, the famous meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Wander through the Altstadt (Old Town), filled with cozy pubs, vibrant restaurants, and lively squares. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying local wines or a hearty meal. And of course, no visit to Koblenz is complete without trying a Kowelenzer Schängelche the mischievous local schnapps and the iconic fountain hidden in the courtyard of the town hall (Rathaus). Ask a local where to find it the little bronze boy.Guest review byAndreSouth Africa
