The latest AI-powered martech news and releases
If AI Overviews misidentifies you as a low-quality copycat, you'll lose 95% of your organic search traffic — and there’s nothing you can do about it.
What happens when AI Overviews mistakes you for a low-quality competitor that’s been stealing your content for years? You lose 95% of your organic search. And there’s nothing you can do about it. From the Tailored. Jeans blog:
“The most frustrating part is our inability to communicate this error to Google directly; there’s no human contact, only algorithms. However, we are writing this blog post precisely to inform Google that its excessive reliance on AI in search results is directly harming businesses like ours. You are stealing our content to summarize search queries without directing users back to our website, even knowing that AI can be fallible. Furthermore, by making incorrect connections through your “deep research,” you are obliterating the authority of trusted brands and effectively erasing them from the internet.”
Combine that with the results of a Pew Research study that came out this week:
“Google users who encounter an AI summary are less likely to click on links to other websites than users who do not see one. Users who encountered an AI summary clicked on a traditional search result link in 8% of all visits. Those who did not encounter an AI summary clicked on a search result nearly twice as often (15% of visits).
“Google users who encountered an AI summary also rarely clicked on a link in the summary itself. This occurred in just 1% of all visits to pages with such a summary. Google users are more likely to end their browsing session entirely after visiting a search page with an AI summary than on pages without a summary. This happened on 26% of pages with an AI summary, compared with 16% of pages with only traditional search results.”
Are AI Overviews good for anyone besides Google?
