Abstract

 プラズマディスプレイパネルと、維持パルス発生回路とを備えるプラズマディスプレイ装置において、前記維持パルス発生回路は、2つのピークを持つ発光を発生させる第1の維持パルスと、前記第1の維持パルスよりも立ち下がりを急峻にした第2の維持パルスと、前記第1の維持パルスよりも立ち上がり及び立ち下がりを急峻にし1つのピークを持つ発光を発生させる第3の維持パルスとを切換えて発生させるとともに、前記第3の維持パルスの直前には前記第2の維持パルス又は第3の維持パルスを発生させ、前記第2の維持パルスの直前には前記第1の維持パルスを発生させ、前記第2の維持パルスと前記第3の維持パルスとの間、及び前記第3の維持パルスと前記第3の維持パルスとの間に、前後の維持パルスの立ち下がり時間と立ち上がり時間とを重複させる第1の重複期間(Tx1)を設ける。
