Abstract

走査電極と維持電極とからなる表示電極対を有する放電セルを複数備えたプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法において、1フィールド期間内に初期化期間と書込み期間と維持期間とを有する複数のサブフィールドを設け、前記維持期間には、前記走査電極に基準となる第1の維持パルスと、前記第1の維持パルスよりも立ち上がりを急峻にするとともに前記第1の維持パルスよりも立ち下がりを緩やかにした第2の維持パルスとの少なくとも2種類の維持パルスを印加する。前記第2の維持パルスは、前記維持期間の最後にベース電位から所定電位(Vers)に向かって上昇し前記所定電位(Vers)に到達したら直ちに降下させる消去ランプ波形の直前に、所定回数連続して印加される。
