Abstract
The present invention relates to a nucleic acid comprising a chimeric nmt::lacO promoter that allows control of gene expression in fission yeast. Hence, a gene controlled by the promoter can be turned on and off. Such promoter is useful for protein expression in fission yeast and also for biological studies in fission yeast. Other aspects of theinvention are vectorsand a kit comprising the vectorsand a method of inducing synthesis of a pre-determined RNA, said pre-determined RNA being under the control of the chimeric nmt::lacO promoter.
