Abstract
Disclosed is an optical information recording medium which comprises: a substrate having a pre-groove with a track pitch of 50 to 500 nm formed on its surface; and a recording layer formed on the surface of the substrate and comprising an azo metal complex dye represented by the general formula (A). [General formula (A)] A (Xp+)k' wherein A represents an anionic moiety represented by the formula: (L2-)2(M); L2- represents a bivalent azo dye anion; M represents a metal ion or a metal oxide ion; Xp+ represents a p-valent organic cation which has the maximum molar extinction coefficient of less than 20000 dm3mol-1cm-1 in a wavelength range from 350 to 700 nm when the organic cation and an ion Cl- or the like together form a salt; p represents an integer of 1 to 10; and k' represents a value determined by dividing a negative charge in the anionic moiety represented by A by the value p and falls within the following range: 0<k'≤4, provided that Xp+ is not a non-cyclic alkyl ammonium cation.
