Abstract

　高画質の動画表示も可能であり、かつ色純度が向上される表示装置と、その表示装置に用いられる、特にランプイメージムラを低減させた照明装置とを提供する。第１の色を発する第１の光源（３１Ｇ）と、第１の色に対して補色関係にある第２の色の光を発する第２の光源（３１ＲＢ）とを備えた光源ユニット（５）の光放出面を覆うように、第１散乱層（４ｂ）、第１集光層（４ａ）、第２散乱層（３ｂ）、第２集光層（３ａ）を有する照明装置（６）と、０．５フレーム周期で各走査線ＧＬを順次選択するゲートドライバ（４４）と、１フレーム期間の前半において第１の色の画素へデータ信号を書き込み、後半において他の２色の画素へデータ信号を書き込むデータドライバ（４３）と、１フレーム期間の前半において第１の光源を点灯させると共に第２の光源を消灯し、期間の後半において第２の光源を点灯させると共に第１の光源を消灯するスイッチ回路（４６）とを備える。
