Abstract

　高解像度化が可能で高い開口率を保持できる表示素子の構成を保ったまま、広い色再現領域と高い色純度が実現できる表示装置を提供する。第１の色を発する第１の光源（３１Ｇ）と、第１の色に対して補色関係にある色の光を発する第２の光源（３１ＲＢ）とを備えた照明装置（３）と、０．５フレーム周期で各走査線（ＧＬ）を順次選択するゲートドライバ（２４）と、１フレーム期間の前半において第１の色の画素および、第２の色および第３の色の画素の少なくともいずれか一方に、データ信号を書き込み、後半において第２の色および第３の色の画素へデータ信号を書き込むデータドライバ（２３）と、１フレーム期間の前半において第１の光源（３１Ｇ）を点灯させると共に第２の光源（３１ＲＢ）を消灯し、期間の後半において第２の光源（３１ＲＢ）を点灯させると共に第１の光源（３１Ｇ）を消灯するスイッチ回路（２６）とを備える。
