Abstract
Disclosed is a process for producing an aromatic polycarbonate resin having more improved thermal stability during melting. Specifically disclosed is a process for producing an aromatic polycarbonate resin having a high molecular weight, which comprises the steps of: reacting an aqueous alkali solution of a dihydroxy compound with phosgene in the presence of an organic solvent to produce a reaction solution of a carbonate oligomer having a low molecular weight; and polycondensing the reaction solution to produce the aromatic polycarbonate resin, wherein the polycondensation is carried out in such a manner that the concentration of a chloroformate (CF) group constantly decreases within the range satisfying the following formula as the polycondensation proceeds. 2 x 10-4(CF)2+0.0226(CF)+0.95≤(OH)≤2 x 10-4(CF)2+0.5877(CF)+18.79 wherein: (CF): the concentration of a chloroformate group in the reaction product (μ eq/g); and (OH) the concentration of a OH group in the reaction product (μ eq/g).
