Abstract
送信信号のエンベロープ信号に基づく電源電圧を電力増幅器の電源端子に供給し、電力増幅器によって広ダイナミックレンジ信号についても高効率かつ低歪で増幅することができる送信装置。この装置において、エンベロープ信号の信号レベルに応じて、エンベロープ信号を、基準レベル以下の第1のエンベロープ信号区間の信号と、基準レベルより大きい第2のエンベロープ信号区間の信号とに分離するレベル分離器と、第1のエンベロープ信号区間のエンベロープ信号をパルス幅変調するパルス幅変調器と、第2のエンベロープ信号区間のエンベロープ信号を線形増幅する増幅器と、パルス幅変調信号に基づきスイッチング動作し、パルス幅変調信号を増幅するトランジスタと、電力増幅器の電源端子に供給される、増幅器の出力信号とトランジスタの出力信号との合成信号、又は合成前のトランジスタの出力信号を平滑化する平滑回路と、を有する。
