Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing octopamine receptor-producing cells. To this end, at least one gene with coding for an octopamine receptor is transformed into a host cell. The cloning of neurotransmitter receptor genes and their stable expression makes it possible to investigate individual neurotransmitter receptor subtypes with precisely defined structures, for the first time. The cells transformed by the neurotransmitter receptor gene can be used in a simple method for investigating the characteristics of neurotransmitter receptors. According to said method, a ligand to be investigated is allowed to act on these cells and the effect is determined by analysing intracellular messenger substances.
