Abstract

Disclosed is a container (1), especially a can, made of thin-walled sheet metal, consisting of a single piece extruded bottom part (2) including a tubular protruding central part (3) that is closed with a lid having a tear-off closure that opens the container and that is connected to the central part (3) by means of flanges. The production of said cans, which are especially used as disposable containers for all types of beverages, implies considerable material consumption (aluminum, tinplate). According to the invention, in order to save material during production, at least the bottom part (2), and optionally the lid, is fitted with ribs, tabs or the like (4) which extend from the center of the bottom part (2) or the lid part in the direction of the edge (5) of the bottom part or the lid part. The considerable rigidity of the bottom part (2) or lid part thus obtained makes it possible to produce a substantially thinner bottom or lid part while preserving the same rigidity and reducing material consumption.

Description

BESCHREIBUNG DESCRIPTION
Behälter, insbesondere Dose, aus dünnwandigem BlechContainers, especially cans, made of thin-walled sheet metal
Stand der TechnikState of the art
The invention relates to a container according to the preamble of claim 1.
Behälter der zur Rede stehenden Art sind beispielsweise in der DE-A-31 17 347, der EP-A-0 122 651, der EP-A-0 349 054, der EP-A-0 542 552 und der EP-A-005 025 beschrieben.Containers of the type in question are described, for example, in DE-A-31 17 347, EP-A-0 122 651, EP-A-0 349 054, EP-A-0 542 552 and EP-A- 005 025.
The two-part or three-part containers according to the known prior art have a base part which determines the volume of the container, followed by a central jacket-shaped central part, which are produced in one operation - that is to say in one part - by extrusion. The wall thickness (thickness) of the central part is z. B. in the order of about 0, 10 mm up to approx. 0.15 mm, while the wall thickness (thickness) of the base part is of the order of approx. 0.30 mm to approx. 0.35 mm. The wall thickness (thickness) of the cover part connected to it by flanging on the side of the (correspondingly prepared) central part opposite the base part has a wall thickness comparable to the base part.
Containers of this type are used as single-use packaging in considerable quantities, in particular for all kinds of drinks. Accordingly, the use of such packaging involves a considerable consumption of material (in the present case, in particular tinplate, but also aluminum). Even relatively small amounts of material that could be saved on a single container in its manufacture, based on the total annual consumption of about five billion cans in the Federal Republic of Germany alone, would mean considerable and in any case not insignificant material savings.
Zielaim
The aim of the present invention is to further improve containers of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that — with the function remaining the same and not impaired — considerable material savings in their manufacture are possible.
To achieve the object outlined above, the invention is proposed in accordance with the characterizing part of claim 1.
Advantageous further developments of the invention are specified in subclaims 2 and 3.
- Eine vorteilhafte Weiterbildung des Gegenstandes des Anspruches 5 nennt Anspruch 6.Regardless of the inventive concept according to claim 1, the invention relates also process features as specified in the independent claims 4 and 5. - An advantageous development of the subject matter of claim 5 calls claim 6.
Vorteilebenefits
The present invention is based in particular on the fact that the bottom part of the previously known container is much thicker, for. B. 0.33 mm thick, is designed as the central part, which has a wall thickness of z. B. 0.12 mm. By introducing the stiffening elements provided according to the invention (ribs, beads or the like) into the bottom part, which is already stiffened to a certain extent against forces acting from the inside and / or outside transversely to the bottom part by a conventionally provided concave shape, the bottom part thereof can be further improved in this way be that it can be made considerably thinner than before without losing its function - that is, without reducing its absolute inherent rigidity. In this way, the weight of the bottom part can be reduced, for example, by 2-5 g compared to the bottom part of previously known cans of the type in question. Taking into account an annual consumption of approximately five billion cans, this leads to a reduction in the annual material consumption in the manufacture of these containers in the order of magnitude - in the case assumed here - for example 25,000 t of tinplate! - The stackability of the cans is also improved.
The claims 2 and 3 name alternative solutions for the introduction of the stiffening elements in the bottom part or in the cover part.
The solution according to claim 2 has the advantage that the concave arched bottom of the bottom part in a manner known per se for stiffening has no areas beyond the concavely curved surface (base area), so that, for. B. direct, as dense and therefore space-saving stacking of such cans is possible without any possible mutual hindrance by the stiffening elements according to the invention and the elements of the mentioned zipper of a further can located under the relevant can. In the case of the solution according to claim 3, a very dense, direct stacking of cans may be impeded by the ribs, beads or the like provided according to the invention - depending on the actual conditions of the design of the lid part and bottom part; however, the stiffening of the base part to be expected from the introduction of such ribs, beads or the like into the base part is possibly even greater than in the case of the solution according to claim 2.
- Anstelle eines Verfahrens, bei dem die Prägung derWhile claim 4 suggests introducing the ribs, beads or the like into the base part of the can in the course of the extrusion process in the production of base part with a central part, claim 5 specifies an alternative solution, according to which the ribs, beads or the like. In a separate work step be introduced into the bottom part of the can. - Instead of a procedure in which the embossing of the
Ribs, beads or the like. Is carried out by means of mechanical stamps, this embossing can advantageously also be carried out in connection with the present invention in that the known method, which works with liquid pressure, is used in accordance with the proposal according to claim 6.
Erläuterung der Erfindung an AusführungsbeispielenExplanation of the invention using exemplary embodiments
The invention is explained in more detail below using three exemplary embodiments with reference to FIGS. 1 to 6 of the drawing.

9 in jedem Fall entgegengesetzt. 4 im Bodenteil 2 gemachten Ausführungen.1 and 2 show the round, concavely curved base part 2 of a container 1 (not shown), followed by a rising central part 3. In the base part 2 are - from a one located in the middle of the base part 2, unspecified and for example a diameter in the order of magnitude of approximately 5 mm to approximately 12 mm, starting in the direction of the edge of the base part, which is designated as 5 and serves as an annular footprint, that is to say arranged in a radial direction and thus transversely to the base part or to the latter Base surface stiffening stiffening elements provided in the form of ribs, beads or the like. 4. The ribs, beads or the like. 4 end in the case of the illustration in FIG. 1 at a short distance in front of the peripheral edge 5 of the base part 2 or of the central part 3 and can either have a curvature that is concave, that is to say to the interior of the Can directed towards) of the bottom part 2 corresponds, or a curvature that is opposite to the direction of the curvature of the bottom part. The latter solution should cause greater stiffening of the bottom part 2 than the first-mentioned solution, while the first-mentioned solution has the advantage that the ribs, beads or the like. 4 do not extend into the space lying in front of the concavely curved bottom part 2 and therefore z. B. can not be a hindrance when stacking cans directly. 3 and 4 show the round, concavely curved base part 7 with a subsequent, projecting, cylinder-jacket-shaped central part 8 of a container 6, which is not shown in the rest. In the base part 7 there are - starting from an area located in the middle of the base part 7 as in the case of the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 - stiffening elements arranged in the radial direction in the form of ribs, beads or the like. 9 are provided. The ribs, beads or the like 9 are formed by approximately triangular depressions 10 which are relatively wide in comparison to the ribs, beads or the like 9 formed by them and end at a short distance in front of the peripheral edge 11 of the base part 7 or of the middle part 8 1 and 2, the ribs, beads or the like 9 can either have a curvature which corresponds to the direction of curvature of the base part 7, or a curvature which is opposite to the direction of curvature of the base part 7. - The direction of the curvature of the depressions 10 is in any case opposite to the direction of the curvature of the ribs, beads or the like. 9. Otherwise, the statements made in connection with the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 in connection with the alignment of the ribs, beads or the like 4 in the bottom part 2 also apply to this embodiment of the invention.
Ferner gelten im Fall der Ausführungsform nach den Fig. 4 und 5 ebenfalls die Aussagen, die bezüglich der Ausrichtung der Rippen, Sicken oder dgl. im Verhältnis zum konkaven Bodenteil bei der Beschreibung der Ausführungsbeispiele nach den Fig. 1 bis 4 gemacht worden sind.5 and 6 show the same as the representations according to FIGS. 1 to 4 of a container 12, which is not shown in any other way, the round, concavely curved base part 13 with subsequent, rising central part 14. In the base part 13 are - from one in starting in the middle of the bottom part 13, unspecified area - arranged in the radial direction and thus - as in the case of the embodiments according to FIGS , Beads or the like. 15 provided. The ribs, beads or the like. 15 extend into the circumferential edge 16 of the bottom part 13 or middle part 14 and therefore interrupt the course of the edge 16 at the relevant points. Also in the case of this exemplary embodiment, the ribs, beads or the like. 15 either have a curvature which corresponds to the direction of curvature of the base part 13, or else a curvature which is opposite to the direction of curvature of the base part. Furthermore, in the case of the embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5, the statements relating to the alignment of the ribs, beads or Like. In relation to the concave bottom part in the description of the embodiments of FIGS. 1 to 4 have been made.
Furthermore, in view of the purpose pursued by the invention of the material savings which can be achieved by stiffening as far as possible the known concave base part of the cans in question for their manufacture, the mentioned ribs, beads or the like are also advantageous in embodiments such as those shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, 4 to extend into the edge 5 or 11 of the base part 2 or 7. This uses another possibility to set the degree of stiffening as high as possible. This then results in an edge for the base part in question, which is no longer continuously circular, but is interrupted in its - generally circular - course in accordance with the width and number of ribs, beads or the like.
Although only the base part of a can has been dealt with in the preceding description of exemplary embodiments, the idea of the invention can advantageously also be used in principle with the cover part of such cans.
