Description
IMPROVEMENT ON WRAPPING MACHINE FOR PACKAGING OF STEEL SHEETS AND COILS WITH HORIZONTAL RACE. The invention concerned is an improvement developed on wrapping machine for packaging of steel sheets and coils, wire rod, nonferrous materials, flat and long products, utilizing paper tapes, plastic of high and low density, mono-oriented and bi-oriented, textiles such as raffia, composed mixture of paper/ plastic, with or without chemical treatment. These machines are widely used in the packaging of finished products is small to large-sized steel mills. The status of the technique utilizes the following machines: regarding PI 9401378-0, applied for on April 4, 1994, in accordance with figure 1, where the vertical movement of the shuttle (62) is performed by mechanical arms (63) and by the spindle (64) installed horizontally and the guides (65), which makes the machine fragile, due to warp of the arms (63) limits the lifting height of the shuttle (62) which, in turn, restricts its use in the packaging of coils with larger diameters. The race (62), being in semi-circle in the vertical direction and flat in the upper part, allows the loosening of the packaging tape, which causes penetration of impurities in the coil. The opening of the arm (66) is manually supported by spring (67), which not only requires more time for closing, but it is also an unsafe condition for the operator either when it opens or by cable break (68); regarding MU 7500405-4 applied for on March 8, 1995 in accordance with figures 2 and 3, consisting of base assembly (69), shuttle (70), movable car (71), driving, supporting and moving column (72), where the opening of the arm (73) is manually supported spring (74), which requires more time for closing, being an unsafe condition for the operator when it opens or by cable break (75) and rubber-coated rolls (76) which causes defects in thinner sheet coils. The improved packaging machine, described, in accordance with figures 4A, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, consists of the following parts: • Shuttle composed of race (1), movable arm (2), counterweight (3), support (4), shaft (5), roller bearing (6), wheels (7), driver (8) and bus bar (9). • Lifting and forward column (60), consisting of the following components: welded construction metallic panel 910), guiding plate (11), lifting motor-driven reducer (12), bracing journal box (13), spindle (14), nut (15), guide bearing (16), forward motor-driven reducer (17), shaft (18), supporting bearing (19) and wheels (20).
• Column supporting base for stationary machine (23), with traveling movement, in accordance with figure 6 (note: see annex), is composed of metallic shapes (21) in welded construction, rails (22), for horizontal shift of the metallic panel (10), wheels (24) motor- driven reducer (25), shaft (26) and cable reeler (45).
• Movable car (27), consisting of AC triphase motor (28), coupled to the reducer (29), electrically fed by current collectors (30), wheels with shafts (31) and roller bearings (32), springs (33), draw chain (34), gears (35), and uncoiler with clutch (36). Alternatively, the movable car (27) may be without electric contact type though magnetic coupling, induction, by means of linear motor.
• Coil skid (57), in accordance with figure 7 (note: see annex) is composed of supporting rolls (37), one is driven and rubber coated and the other free with the steel body, bearings (38), shaft (39), fixation element (40), gear (41), chain (42), motor driven reducer (43) and metallic supporting base (44) in welded construction.
• Electric control panel for operational logic, control and protection of the drivers, with an alternative for speed control through frequency converter (46) and PCL-programmable logic controller (47).
The movable arm (2) articulates in the shaft (48) and roller bearing (49), moved by the driver (8), pin (50) and bushing (51). The driver (8) is fixed to the race (1), through welding, by support (52), being hydraulically fed by the assembly (53) or electrically by mechanical spindle.
The supports (4) are fixed by bolt to the race (1), containing the shaft inside (5), mounted by the roller bearings (6), with wheels (7) on their end, which work as a guide, allowing the vertical movement of the race (1). The bus bar (9) is assembled inside the race (1) and movable arm (2) and, in accordance with figures 8 (note: see annex), is composed of shaped rubber (54) and copper blade (55) whose purpose is to feed electrically the movable car (27) and enable shift of it. The race (1) and movable arm (2), in accordance with figures 4A, 4 and 8, are made of metallic plate, with two shapes installed in parallel and are separated by spacers (56), in welded construction. The metallic panel (10) is made of metallic shapes, welded, having opening on two sides where the guiding plates (11) are housed,
whereby the wheels (7) shift, thereby allowing vertical movement of the race (1).
The motor-driven reducer mounted on the upper part the metallic panel (10) and has the function of transmitting the turn to the spindle (14) which drives the nut (15) which is mounted inside the race (1), thus vertically shifting the race (1). The motor-driven reducer (17) is mounted at the lower part of the metallic panel (10), whose function is to pull the shaft (18), resulting in the horizontal movement of the metallic panel (10) and race (1) through the wheels (20) in the rail (22). For the movable machine assembly in accordance with figure 6 (note: see annex), the metallic shapes (21) are mounted the wheels (24), which are actuated by the motor-driven reducer (25), which through the shaft (26) causes the horizontal shift of the whole machine assembly, fed electrically by the cable realer (45). The coil skip (57) is installed in front of the metallic shapes (21) and has the function of housing the metallic coils (18) and give rotation movement to it, through the motor-driven reducer (43), actuating one of the rolls (37) by the chain (42). The use of the wrapping machine assembly concerned consists of the following phases:
• Moving back of the lifting and forward column (60), positioning it on the other end of the skid. (57).
• Opening of the movable arm (2).
• Placement of the packaging tape (59) in the uncoiler with clutch (36). • The coil (58) is positioned on the skid (57).
• The race (1) moves vertically until its flat part matches coil inner diameter.
• The lifting and forward column (60) Shifts penetrating the flat part of the race (1) in the coil inner diameter (58) and the movable arm (2) is closed.
• An end of the tape (59) sticks to any point of the coil (58).
• The movable car (27) and the roll (37) of the skid (57) are actuated by the motor-driven reducer (43), syncronizing the speed of the coil (58) rotation with that of the movable car (27). With these movements the movable car (27) will shift inside and outside the coil (58) by the race (1) and movable arm (2) packaging it completely.
• After the coil (58) is packaged, the tape (59) is cut, the movable arm (2) is open and the column (60 moves back to allow removal of the coil (58) from the skid (57).
The wrapping machine concerned presents certain advantages over the one previously used, namely:
• The race (1) and movable arm (2) upper parts are oval unlike those of PI 9401378-0 that were in semi-circle which allows a constant stretching of the packaging tape (59) thus avoiding loosening in the last packaging stage of the coil (58), which causes penetration of impurities.
• Unlike the previous machines the opening of the arm (2) takes place automatically through the driver (8).
• The race vertical movement (1) is performed by means of nut (15) and spindle (14) installed vertically, which differs from the mechanical arms of the machine PI 9401378-0 and allows that any coil diameter is used.
• The horizontal shift of the lifting and forward column (60) takes place through the motor-driven reducer (17) directly on the stretching (18), and not by chain and gears as it was the case on machine PI 9401378-0 to make maintenance easier.
• The column supporting base for the movable machine (61) allows its shift, which makes packaging of coils possible (58) at the exit of the process lines.
• The rolls (37) of the skid (57) differ from the provious machines as it is only one driven and rubber-coated roll and the other one free with steel body, in order to avoid defects in the first turns of the coils(58).
