Abstract

A device using existing standard yellow indicator lights to indicate deceleration while maintaining the current functions of the hazard warning lights, which are given absolute priority, and of the flashing indicator lights, which are given priority on the appropriate side while the other side remains in use for signalling deceleration. The yellow indicator lights signal deceleration by lighting up non-intermittently by means of a contactor placed on the acceleration control system and actuated when the latter returns to zero. Given that side lights and brake lights are often one and the same, and that the time lapse without external indication between releasing the accelerator and braking is often critical, this system is designed to prevent many fatal accidents.
