l Be it known-that we, EDWIN .SAOKFORD, of Boston, in the county. of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, and DERK ARNA UD0 said Boston, have inventada new and useful Improvementin Bureau-Bedsteadsg and we do hereby declare that the following is affidi, clear, andexact description of the construction and opration ot' the same, reference being had to the accompanying' drawings, vmaking apart of this specification, in which-4,

Our improvements consist, iirst,g i n 4arranging n. bedstead-made in two parts, hinged together with the door of n. ense, so that the bedstead, when required Ifor use, will comeen'tirely o utof and clear of the case,and lie parallel with its front, instead of extending into the room at rightnngles withthe said-f1ont,'a's in those now made, by this arrangement insuring to the occupants of the bed a fr ee circulationof air, asthey can lie clear of and not partially within the case; and seeond, in making acompartment in an end of thecase to hold a crib, which, when in use, will lie, parallel with and near the bed; or, ii a crib is not desired, the space can be used for a wardrobe.

We have' therefore made our bedstead and casein a usual manner,` dividing the bedstead into two puits', A and B, hinged together, aiiixing thepart to the door, D, 'and hing-ing said door to the case, C, but have placed the side, instead oi' the end of the hedetead, uext to the hinges connecting the door with the case, by which means we are enabled to open out o ur bedstead parallel with the-'front of the ease, as iseshown in iig'. 2.

We have also attached aci-ib, E, tothe door G, for use as shown in'fig. 2, thus combining two articles of furniture in one-a great 'convenienceto persons Vwhos'espace islimted. I

We do not claim combining'a bedsteal with a vease and its door, as we are' aware `that .that is old and well known; but v What we do' claim as our invention, and desire toisceure by LettersPetent, is-

1. A bedsteed, made in two parts, hinged together, when 'arrangedv with the case and'its door, so vthat the bedsteed when in use shall b'e outside of and parallel with the front ofthe case, all substantially as and for lthe purpose specified. I i

2. The arrangement ofthe bedstead A B, and crib with the ease and its doors D G, allsubstantially as' and for the purpose specied.
