TO .ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, `GEORGEF.A ATKINSON, of Seymour, in the county of New Haven, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and improved Door-Bolt; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
The door-bolt embraced in the present "invention is so constructed that it can be set for operationor put out of operation, as may be desired, as willibe apparent from the following detail description of the bolt or stop, reference being had to the accompanying plate of drawings, iu which the figure is a central section through the bolt in the direction of its length.
A, in the drawings, represents a bolt arranged to move or slide within a casing or'tube', B, of suitable shape therefor. This bolt projects at one end from 'the tube B, and at such projecting end the bolt is rounded off. C, a shoulder on'bolt A. On this shoulder C rests one endof a spiral or coiled spring, D, that at its other end presses against the inside of the head E to tube B. F, a screw-bolt, passing loosely through the head E to the tube B, and screwing into the inner end or portion G of the bolt A. On this screw-bolt, outside of the tube B, is
ln screw-`nut, H, that, by being screwed up or down upon the said screw-bolt, draws in or allows the bolt tovbe forced out by the spira-l spring to a greater orless extent, thus enabling the bolt to bethrown into a position for action or non-action, as may be desired. Thercas-ing to the bolt is provided with ear or iange-pieces', suitable for attaching it to a door.` v
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The bolt A moving in casing B,.in combination with spring C and screw-bolt F and nut G, when-all com.-i bined and arranged together substantially as and for the purpose described.
GEO. F. ATKINSON.
