-IMPRDVEMEN T IN LIFTING-JAGK,

Be it known Athat I, OLIVER L. PINNEY, of Brunswiek,lin the county of Medina, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Lifting-Jacks; and I do hereby vdeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description' of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in 'which- Figure 1 is an elevation of one side, and

Figure 2 is an elevation of the opposite side.

Into the bed-pieceA is firmly framed the wedge-shaped piece B. On the edge of this are fastened two strips of iron, or other metal, C C. A lever, D, turns the segment of al toothed wheel, E. To the movable piece F are attached fourvmetallic pieces G G G G, having grooves on their inner sides to receive the edges of the iron strips C C. To the same piece is firmlyfastened the strip H, toothed on one side to fit into the teeth of the segmental wheel E.

By bearing down the lever D the wheel E is turned, and the movable piece F is raised. When thus raised it is held in its place by the link I, fastened to the piece F, as represented, and having a slot in its lower end in which works a pin, K. When the piece F is raised to the proper height the points M, K, and L form a triangle, with its apex towards the long end of the lever D, and consequentlya-ny downward pressure on the pieeeF will tend to keep down the long end of the lever D. l

. What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The ,lever D, wheel E, and toothed niece II, in combination with the link I, substantially as set forth.
