OLIVER S. JUDD, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN SNAP-HOOKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 415,4 I4, dated December 13, 1864.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLIVER S. JUDD, of New Britain, county of Hartford, and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new 'and useful additional Improvements in Snap- Hooks, (patented August 25,186.35) and I do hereby declare that the sameis described and represented in the following specification and drawing, and to enable others skilled in the art to make and use, I will proceed to describe its construction by referring to the drawings, in which the same letters indicate like parts in each of the figures, the nature of which will be fully understood from the following specitication and drawing.
Figure l is a side elevation.
A is the hook. Bis the loop by which it is secured to a strap. C is alatch which secures the opening` into the hook. D is a hinge formed at the junction of the hook with the loop in which thelatch is secured. E is a (semielliptic) spring to hold the latch in a closed position, and differs from the one shown in my former patent, above referred to, in two respects-viz., it is made of wire and in spiral form, the outer ends, of which extend outward a suitable length and take their bearing, respectively, against the recess of the hook and the latch, as in the former case. While the spira-l portion is placed over the hin ge-pin, this spring,` may be placed within the recess ot' the hook and latch without being placed over the scribed.
