Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

There could have been a better choice for breakfast
Everything! The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. The hotel is in an excellent location and has its own large courtyard where meals are served. The food is delicious. The bedrooms are spacious and have an enchanting balcony overlooking the courtyard. Definitely somewhere I would love to stay again

We missed a bar fridge, which would have been nice to keep stuff cool in the sweltering July heat.
Garden House Hotel is very centrally located but also in a relatively quiet neighbourhood. The staff is very helpful and attentive. They serve a good breakfast in a lovely courtyard. What more can one want?

We had a wonderful stay at Garden House Hotel in Istanbul. The breakfast was excellent, offering a great variety to start the day right. The staff were incredibly friendly, diligent, and always ready to help. The hotel is very well located in the heart of Sultanahmet, with easy access to all the main attractions. Highly recommended!

Small detail but the room had a really weird and unpleasant smell (on the top floor).

The rooms are worn out, and the bathrooms also show significant damage. However, most importantly, the rooms are not clean. The bed linen is clean, but everything else requires more thorough and comprehensive cleaning (the windows in the rooms haven't been cleaned for months, maybe even longer; the tiles and toilet bowl have limescale buildup; and the shower fixtures, besides being partly faulty, are also poorly maintained). The breakfast is average, but it is served only from 8 a.m., which is late if you plan to make use of the morning.
The hotel has a good location, spacious rooms, and a beautiful garden that features a very good restaurant where breakfast is also served. The hotel staff is also friendly.

Was hard to find any negatives! If we are being very picky then we woud have preferred if the breakfast items were all labeled so we knew what was vegetarian etc and also the ambient music from the restaurant was lovely but quite repetitive and could be a bit loud, heard in our rooms in the morning. This was outweighed by all of the wonderful aspects of our stay so we didn't mind!
Location was fantastic, staff were really helpful and welcoming and the room and facilities were clean and neat. The restaurant was also a bonus with good vegetarian options!

Beware of the offer by staff to take you to a "free" Roman cistern. The cistern is fine, but the high pressure sales pitch they are delivering you to is umpleasant.
Building has great character. Superb breakfasts, excellent evening restaurant. Rooms are varied but all nice. Can't beat the location, either!

Fantastic location, walking distance to all the sites in Sultanahmet. Lovely garden restaurant. Spacious room with a view overlooking Sea of Marmara. Welcoming staff- we always felt comfortable coming back home after a busy day sight seeing in Istanbul. We would definitely recommend staying here!

I liked the staff, they were very nice and friendly, they were helpful and willing to help in what we needed while staying there. I want to thank Tarik and Tuna at the reception. Special thanks to the kitchen staff specially Aisha and her two co worker girls and to Mohammad from Egypt. Its a very nice cozy hotel to stay at when visiting Istanbul 😊😊

The jacoozi in the room was a little broken: the metal things were just standing around not attached.
Most of the staff were really polite and nice. Breakfast was really good. Our room was very quiet and nice, the bathroom was spacious. The services are well organized.
