Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThere is no elevator, and the stairs are quite steep, which can be a struggle getting luggage up to the fourth floor. But we enjoyed the workout.
We loved the location! It's perfectly located so you can easily get out and explore the City. The tram drops you off immediately in front of the hotel, which is great on a rainy day!

United StatesNot really a con, but you have to be okay with steep, narrow stairs here. If you have really oversized, heavy luggage or are uncomfortable with stairs, you might give it a second thought.
The staff here are amazing and the rooms are a great value for the area. The breakfast is also fantastic, along with the evening cheese snack and options for beverages.

United StatesShower was small but more than efficient with hot water. Under the bed on the floor was quite dirty (saw when dropped AirPod).
We did not partake in the breakfast because we wanted to explore city options. But, the breakfast, via cafe on main floor, smelt amazing each morning. Free coffee/tea and pastry was a nice perk. Coffee was delicious. Alcohol was available. Staff were very friendly. Very convenient to travel city via metro. There is one metro stop just outside the front door and 2 more within 3-5min walk. Late night food options very close by. Convenience store 10 min walk. Thank you Ed and Martin! Bed was very comfortable. Reading lamps were excellent.

United StatesI can see this property might not be for everyone. The staircase is the steepest I have ever seen but that’s the way these old Amsterdam houses were built. The rooms are very small. We had two hand luggage suitcases and once we opened them up there was no room to move. There is a wardrobe we could have used but seen as we were only there for one night, we didn’t feel like unpacking. The bathroom is clean and nice, but once again, very small. Despite this, we would 1000% stay again for the staff and the location.
Excellent location walking distance from restaurants, shopping, and all the tourist attractions. What sets this property apart is the staff! They make you feel so welcome, they are very helpful and the warm atmosphere they create is so genuine, it makes you feel at home. Traveling with my teenage daughter, I enjoyed hanging out downstairs, reading a book with a free cup of coffee and a stoopwafel, to give my teenager some alone time.

IrelandIt’s our second time staying in La Boheme. We love the location, it’s very close to tram lines and it’s central. We have 3 cats of our own so we’re always happy to stay in a place that has a resident cat. The reception area is very cosy and comfortable. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. We arrived very early and our room wasn’t ready, but the staff were very accommodating and let us shower and get ready until our room was ready.

TurkeyWe had a wonderful family stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was warm and cozy. The location is perfect — very close to the city center, with plenty of cafes and restaurants around. In the evenings, we loved taking a short 5-minute walk to enjoy a drink and unwind after a full day of exploring. It was the perfect place to relax and feel at home in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

NetherlandsVery noisy on the streets until 2 am on week days. Noise comes from the Expo Melkweg people who stay drinking outside until late. Not something La Boheme can control but perhaps it is a good idea to report noise during quiet hours to the police.
Friendly staff, lovely cat at reception. Delicious breakfast and food options by reception. Quiet hotel: very private and comfortable. Lovely Amsterdam building and excellent locations. The rooms are comfortable albeit small if you have the attic rooms. The toiletries provided are good quality, good water pressure in the shower. Good WiFi. Good price for the location.

United StatesVery very steep narrow stairs. I booked a double room but there’s absolutely no way 2 people could’ve comfortably fit in there - the bathroom was so small that anyone taller than me (5’7”) would for sure hit their head
Centrally located and close to train stops and restaurants

United StatesThe location can get noisy on weekend evenings especially in summer when you want to leave the windows open for some cool air. The staff on the second evening were cold, distant and distracted. In the name of cheese tasting they gave us one cheese each. The bathroom is really small and the stairs are steep and narrow with no lift.
The location was wonderful in terms of connectivity. We enjoyed the breakfast and cheese tasting in the evenings. Staff (especially on day 1) were friendly and shared many tips and recommendations which were helpful.

SwitzerlandThe location was fabulous. One is walking distance from all the museums, shopping districts and parks. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the single room with a shared bathroom and it was always very clean and comfortable. My only tip is to bring some ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper as the summer nights can be lively, as it should be on a summers night. But it is beautiful and quiet later into the night. Thanks very much to all staff and I will definitely be back again for another stay.

United StatesIt was very basic. Very small room with simple furniture and no extras. Several USB ports not working. Street a bit noisy at night on second floor. Had to keep window open as no AC.

GermanyThat my single room was in the basement but it did look out to a sitting area. The Internet was not working apparently because of street construction. They did give me drink vouchers but I didn’t have a chance to use them. Although I paid for breakfast, I could not have the breakfast because the breakfast didn’t start until 8:00. I had to leave earlier because of the tour I booked. The breakfast such start at least at 7:00.

United StatesThe only challenge was the very narrow, turning staircase that we had to haul our luggage up to get to our room. However, the listing on Booking clearly explained that there was no elevator in the building and the young (and very helpful) staff took pity on us older folks and gave us a hand on the way out. We, however, managed to get our bags up on our own, but if you are in any way mobility challenged, this could be a difficulty.
The location of this lovely inn was perfect for our visit to Amsterdam with our goal of spending a full day at the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum - both within walking distance. The breakfast each morning was delicious - coffee, pancakes, eggs, yogurt, fruit, delicious pastries - we couldn't have asked for more and quite reasonably priced. The room was clean, had a lovely window overlooking the street and the theater across the way, and we were almost sad to leave to embark on our Viking River cruise. In all, La Boheme was the perfect place to start our European vacation.
