Beautiful tradition hotel in such a lovely quiet spot. We visited in early December and had the first snow of the season. We loved visiting the Snow Monkeys (5 minute bus away) and the private onsen is a must!! My partner and I booked the private onsen two nights in a row and it had beautiful sunset views of the snowy mountains and we even got engaged while we were there! We will definitely be back!

Wow the suite was amazing. The private bath in the room was so luxurious and the room and amenities were perfect. Staff was incredible. The multi course breakfast was gourmet level and they attended to my food allergies. And the free sake hour was a nice bonus. This place wasn’t cheap but it was really a lot for what you pay for.

Price paid is not the same with price stated jn booking.com. At least staff provided the explanation in additional charges upfront on half board charges and provide transparency on the pricing

The staff were amazing and made the stay very memorable. The accommodation was outstanding value offering a large clean Japanese style room and an exceptional breakfast, the location is perfect for snow monkey park visit. Recommend booking the private Onsen and visiting the Sake bar. This property is very easy to access from Tokyo via Shinkansen to Nagano and then local train (200m walk to hotel). There are plenty of transport options within town to visit snow monkeys and lots of great dining options.

Staff friendly. Helpful. Room was fantastic...public bath was good. Had good view, so do it in the mornings or before sunset...8-10pm.sake Bar offers free sake./locally grown apple juice, with small pkts of various snacks. Cosy bar...Breakfast good... didn't book with dinner package., so..problem is many eateries closes by 8pm.. Liked that check out is 11am...whereas most ryokans/hotels check out at 10am..

Every single thing is wonderful with this hotel! Especially the staff were simply phenomenal. Outstanding food, beautiful scenery and view, 3 min walk to train station, and semi-private, full-service dining. We had a spacious and impeccable room. Not to be missed!

1/ easy to contact by messages. Very reactive. 2/ WE were transported by car from the station (200m walk) very convenient when you have many luggages. 3/ you feel special from the start to the finish. The personnel were very classy, helpful, polite. 4/ We had the suite with the private onsen. It was a surprise to discover also a private sauna and massage chair. The luxuary in that room is incredible. Worth every yen (and we are not the kind of people that spend much on hotels, it was a luxuary that we granted ourselves for a special occasion and it made it very special) 5/ the breakfast Is top class japanese cuisine 6/ i recommand getting thé dinner (full kaiseki course). Master class delights. We had a proper private dining room for ourselves (i think included with the suit). 7/ the private onsen... Excellent with a good view. 8/ yudanaka IS a very nice village

This was a very delightful stay. The staff were exceptional — we were sad to leave ! And the food was a highlight of our trip to Japan. The room very spacious and a nice experience of traditional Japanese hospitality and design. Would recommend for anyone looking for a beautifully authentic Japanese experience.

Free onsite parking, a welcome drink at check in before enjoying the relaxing onsen. High quality dinner and excellent Japanese breakfast with a modern twist. Dining spaces private and separated. Sake bar which is free for guests in the evening and coffee free service in the lounge after breakfast.

Location in the center of town not as charming than those that are closer to the mountains.

Authentic ryokan experience. Delicious breakfasts and dinners, large room with onsen was very comfortable.
