It was very windy at night and the building makes a bit of noise. Fine once I'd got to sleep but took a little bit. My partner had no issues however. I am being very picky because otherwise it was great

The only slight challenge we had was finding an onsen which allowed my husband because he has tattoos - the nearest public one is a good 45 mins on a bus from the hostel. We were there during the New Years national holidays so outside of holidays there might be one closer or it might be possible to book private onsens though.

It’s even better than the photos. Great value for what you get. The staff are super friendly and helpful and there is a great atmosphere. Facilities all great. We didn’t book in time for the communal meal but the staff recommended a fun restaurant round the corner serving home cooking Japanese food.

There was a strong smell in the dormitory. Location is not very comfortable if you do not have a car.

The typical dinner was amazing! Definitely recommend it if you will stay at this guest house. The facilities are clean and staff speaks English.

I went during the winter months. All of the faucets for the bathrooms were ice cold.

The dinner was of great value and a great way to meet and connect with other guests. I loved cooking over hot coals. It was very fun and delicious. The whole building was very beautiful and old. It felt very authentic. The location is great. It is right next to the Hakone Open Air Museum.

Excellent location just next to the Open Air Museum. The public space is tastefully decorated, I had some good white wine in the bar. The staff are very friendly and helpful, giving me advice where to go in Hakone.

I guess the views from the common area weren't great and the kitchen had kind of an industrial feel to it. Toilet is cramped

In the middle of the guest house is a meeting area with a cooking hearth in the floor as well as a bar where you can buy drinks (or BYOB) and other areas to hang out. They do dinner there every night over the fire and it's a good chance to go and meet up with the other guests and talk to people from Japan and all over the world who are staying there. The staff is incredibly friendly, and overall the place has a nice atmosphere. Free ear plugs in the dorm room. Good location since you're right by the train stations, the ropeway for going over the mountain to lake Ashi, and the outdoor sculpture museum.

The place was clean, comfortable and the communal dinner and bar were amazing. The staff were very helpful and the location was perfect, right near the bus stop and not far to walk to Góra station and convenience stores and some amazing restaurants.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff! They speak very good English and even organized an Onsen visit for me and another guest on the same day. The guest house is super cozy and it’s very nice to relax in the common area with the tatami floors. The guest house is located very close to Hakone open air museum, so it’s easy to reach by bus.

Everything!! The traditionel Japanese feel, the staff, the common room and common kitchen, the dinner. I stayed here with my two children at 12 and 14 and we all loved it. Easy to get to Gora and to do the roundtrip.

Had a wonderful time here. I booked a twin room and it was perfect. The dinner was a nice touch and it was a good opportunity to get to know fellow travellers. Both the room and common areas are very clean. Wifi also worked very well. I arrived in the evening and was glad that the place is very easy to find as the streets were quite dark by then.

Awesome place to stay at during your trip to Hakone! The Irori dinner (absolutely do book this!) was a fun experience and we enjoyed meeting other travellers. The staff were very helpful and accommodating during our stay. Our cozy little attic bedroom was clean and very comfy to sleep in despite the cold autumn weather <3 The shared facilities were clean and the common area nice and lively!
