Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaFridge was leaking water inside. No glasses or cutlery, plates provided. Apartment was separate to reception but not to far to walk for breakfast
Rooms were comfortable and clean, very close to restaurants, San Marco Square and shops. Breakfast was awesome

TurkeyPrior to reserving this hotel, we encountered numerous complaints about the stairs leading to the rooms. Indeed, if you dislike navigating a labyrinth, this could be an issue. However, we actually enjoyed the challenge of these puzzle-like stairs to reach our room. The only downside for us was that the couch appeared old and not very clean.
The hotel's location, close to San Marco, is ideal, and the room was spacious. The breakfast was excellent. To find the hotel, it's important to follow the directions provided by them.

CanadaThe only thing I did not like was the shower, which was small, the rest was perfect. The place was difficult to locate because the suits are part of the complex Hotel San Marco.
I liked the location, the staff and the room in general. The room has lots of space, a kitchen, living-room, a terrace and a safe.

RomaniaAlthough I wish I knew before that the buildings are connected through corridors - as typical Venetian buildings are - and the check-in reception is in another place then what google maps showed. It was really close but still, we were tired and inconvenienced.
The location was great. The room size (suite) was really good, the bathroom impeccable, the canal view exactly what I wanted. The breakfast was ok, not overwhelming, but good. Most of all, the staff was amazing! The best experience - listening to the San Marco bell in the morning! Very quiet location during the night which is a great plus when one needs to rest after all the travelling.

ArmeniaWas not the best value for the price, not even water or free coffee was available at the rooms, no slippers, no bath robes. Has to specifically ask for slippers to get them, while for such a price one would normally expect to find them.
It was a minute away from the Dan Marco square, however very hard to find and locate the hotel, spent almost an hour trying to find it, it was under the name Royal San Marco hotel, while the name on the booking app was Suites Torre Dell’Orologio.

CanadaThe mattress was old and uncomfortable. The property was made up of a few separate buildings and finding our way from one to the other was confusing.
Great location just steps away from St Mark's Square and lots of great restaurants nearby. Good breakfast included with hot and cold food options. Very friendly and helpful staff that go above and beyond.

United StatesOlder and more run down than the pictures online depicted. No Smart TV as they had advertised. For over $700 per night expected more of an honest depiction.

United StatesRooms are separated from the main building as well from the breakfast hall, and it takes few steps and stairs to reach them: not a problem for us, but it can be challenging for people with limited mobility. There is a kitchenette, but the stove is not working, and no utensils are provided (I was hoping for at least an electrical tea kettle, or glasses): again, not a problem for us since I ended up buying some tea and sugar at the Supermarket nearby, and boiling the water on a mug in the microwave. I expressed preference for a room with a balcony, but it looks like it was not available: not a big deal, since our room was very comfortable. TV was not working, and even if a member of the staff was sent immediately to take care of it, the problem persisted: once again, not a problem, we vere in Venice! Very basic amenities: there is just a small sitting area near the Reception Desk, and the bar was permanently closed. Breakfast was good and adequate, not too many items, few fresh choices and several packaged products, but all the essential.
Perfect location: superb, quiet, comfortable, nicely furnished, and most of all spacious rooms) which in Venice are a luxury!) just few steps from Piazza san Marco. But above all, amazing Staff: very professional and courteous, the Front Desk was also able to arrange a "birthday surprise" for my son (for an extra charge), and to give us many suggestions to enjoy our stay; the waitresses at the breakfast room were kind and attentive. I totally recommend this hotel, and I am definitely returning here next time I'll visit Venice!
