Loved. Historic building. Classic, personable old style customer service. Room was huge and the kitchen well equipped. Parking is great! Easy access to all the best parts of the Melbourne CBD. Our room was wonderfully quiet and the bed very comfortable.

Some areas of the building showing their age. We encountered a couple of minor cleanliness issues, particularly in the elevator. The weather during our stay wasn’t great, but I know you can’t control that one!

The friendly greeting and helpfulness of the staff at reception, on arrival, and any interactions during our stay. Really enjoyed the interactions with Denis’s brother Tom, all the way from America, (while Denis was off gallivanting in Paris for the Olympics). He went out of his way to be warm and friendly. Since moving to QLD from Victoria and having stayed at the Grand over many years, we love the history and grandeur of the place and will return for sure. Location, location, location. How central Melbourne can you get! Public transport at the door. Entertainment precincts of Crown Casino, Marvel Stadium and The District at Southbank. What more could you ask for!

There was not enough parking and when cars pulled into the carpark, there was not enough room to turn around and get out.

Only downfall which isn’t even a biggie but would be no smart TVs in the room. But like a said not a biggie

Absolutely amazing room for us and the 3 kids. Swimming pool was great for the kids being heated at 29 degrees during winter. Staff were absolutely sensational and nothing was an issue for them.

I could hear lots of banging and stomping from the floor above mine, so luckily I'd bought ear plugs, which muffled the noise at least.

Such a grand old hotel, and amazing architecture from a bygone era. Very old worldly, and in remarkable condition. A wonderful tribute to old Melbourne.

I booked this hotel for my Dad. He was very happy with it, said the staff were really really friendly and great to chat with. He was excited with his room, said it was massive and double story. Thanks for everything, I'll be booking this place for him when he visits from now on.

No major issues with property.

Proximity to trams leading to MCG makes it an easy place to choose when going to footy. The space in the 2 bedroom apartment was great. Our room had an oven and full sized fridge. Beds were very comfy. Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Not much. Perhaps shower tiles a little worn but still clean and great hot water/pressure.

We were lucky enough to get upgraded from a studio room to a 1 bedroom apartment however we did not realize it had stairs. Neither of us have great knees. The shower was also over the bath. Not a fan. Again grateful for the upgrade as the room was fabulous but not for us.

The ambience of the hotel and the retaining of the olde world charm is fabulous. The staff are just great. The room was clean. Road noise was not an issue. Have to say it was one of the comfiest beds we have had in a hotel!! The location being near trams and Southern Cross, you could not ask for better.
