Innsbruck is great for sightseeing and shopping.
Innsbruck is great for sightseeing and shopping. Local public transport is excellent. It's a great base too fro exploring the surrounding areas - we made use of one of the cable cars to go for a walk in the mountains above 2000 metre height and another day we took a local tram to go for a woodland walk The paths are all very well signposted and easy to follow. We explored other local towns too, using local trains and buses and even travelled to Germany and Italy by train. The Welcome Pass which is included in the cost of any accommodation in Innsbruck is very useful. We ate in a variety of local inns and mountain restaurants - and also enjoyed Kaffee und Kuchen on a Lake steamer on the Achensee.Guest review byandrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A full range of Alpine experience, from hiking to train rides through the countryside. Built on a plateau, everywhere is within easy walking distance, and there are e-bikes to rent for a day. Village and mountan hostelries offer a wide range of eating experience and plenty of opportunity to enjoy traditional Austrian dishes, including an exquisite Applestrudel. The village is steeped in history, yet maintains a modern feel in shops. Most of the village centre is pedestrianised, offering stress-free ambles while samping the village ambience. During a 4-day stay, we were treated to a public rendition from a brass band, and wandered the Tuesday morning market full of local fare. A rainy day visit by train to the old town in Innsbruck complemented a wonderful stay all-round.Guest review byJamieSwitzerland - 10.0
I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years.
I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years. On top of the magnificent views and mountains, I always recommend it particularly on the size of the town. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels in the centre, which give plenty of options if you ever should get a bad weather day. If you are there for a few days, the Active Card is well worth getting. It includes all lifts, train and buses in the valley, so you can get about easily, trying other towns in the valley, without thinking of additional cost.Guest review byDarrenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Our stay in Sölden was delightful, with our hotel perfectly located near the ski lift. The phenomenal après-ski, especially at Giggijoch summit on Friday, made our visit thoroughly enjoyable and extra fun.Guest review byIris DrofnIceland - 10.0

What I like about Kitzbühel is that it is elegant and glamorous, as well as relaxing and comfortable. You don’t need to rush anywhere, everything is close by. One is pampered by the local hospitality, which is a great feeling. The Alps around Kitzbühel are also elegant and cosy, not to mention great skiing conditions, about which everyone knows.Guest review byMarinaAustria - 10.0

Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar.
Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar. It's a must when travelling to Austria. Easy to get to by train from Germany and from within Austria. A small town easily navigated on foot. It's stunning. It was a shame the gondola was not operating though.Guest review byHelenAustralia - 4.0

We were placed in a complete other building, far away from check in, than expected, Every day we needed to take our car to the restaurant for having breakfeast ( my wife have psoriatic arthritis, and for her difficult to walk more than a few meters) the BAR and reception was closed in our building. The oven was not able to use and was first mentioned to us the day upon arrival. We were offered to eat free at the restaurant, but no drinking included ( should we then have brought our own drinking ? ) we dont have problems in paying but, normally our plan for this stay was to cook in our own facility, and then we wouldent have to pay for expencicve drinking. the only positive for us was the location (area) and the personel. Way to expencive for this kind of stayGuest review bylarsDenmark - 10.0
The skiing and views were amazing. Love spring skiing.
The skiing and views were amazing. Love spring skiing. The only issue is the ski town is slow and quiet because it is so late in the season. Id still do it again, bc spring skiing with alpine views are the best!Guest review byAprilUnited States - 10.0
nice town.
nice town. Ideal base for early season hike (start of May) in Wilder Kaiser region. Most other places in vicinity are closed as main hiking season hasn't started yet. The local kaiserlift (chair lift) was open so takes you to start of good hikes..Guest review bymichaelIreland
