Innsbruck is great for sightseeing and shopping.
Innsbruck is great for sightseeing and shopping. Local public transport is excellent. It's a great base too fro exploring the surrounding areas - we made use of one of the cable cars to go for a walk in the mountains above 2000 metre height and another day we took a local tram to go for a woodland walk The paths are all very well signposted and easy to follow. We explored other local towns too, using local trains and buses and even travelled to Germany and Italy by train. The Welcome Pass which is included in the cost of any accommodation in Innsbruck is very useful. We ate in a variety of local inns and mountain restaurants - and also enjoyed Kaffee und Kuchen on a Lake steamer on the Achensee.Guest review byandrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Zell am See is rightly popular because it is uperbly located on the most beautiful lake, with mountain scenery that changes with the light throughout the day. it is also makes an excellent centre for touring. special mention must be made of the Kaprun Glacier and the Kaprun Reservoir. Simply unmissable.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A full range of Alpine experience, from hiking to train rides through the countryside. Built on a plateau, everywhere is within easy walking distance, and there are e-bikes to rent for a day. Village and mountan hostelries offer a wide range of eating experience and plenty of opportunity to enjoy traditional Austrian dishes, including an exquisite Applestrudel. The village is steeped in history, yet maintains a modern feel in shops. Most of the village centre is pedestrianised, offering stress-free ambles while samping the village ambience. During a 4-day stay, we were treated to a public rendition from a brass band, and wandered the Tuesday morning market full of local fare. A rainy day visit by train to the old town in Innsbruck complemented a wonderful stay all-round.Guest review byJamieSwitzerland - 8.0

I enjoyed the area but it was hard to find information about ski schools or guides online. We had some beginners with us and they were unable to ski the icier slopes at the bottom of the hill. I would have signed up for a guide/instructor for them if I was able to get more information. Also need more non ski activities in the area. We went to the Dachstein Glacier area and it was stunning!Guest review bypuraviUnited States - 10.0

Bregenz was a great base to explore the old town and visit St Martin’s Tower telling the history of Bregenz and its chapel with medieval frescoes. There is a round walking tour suggested on a sign post in the old town that takes you past churches and buildings. I used Bregenz to go and visit Liechtenstein with the integrated train and bus service bus Feldkirch. There are are round Lake Constance boat trips as far as a view of Lindau frim the Harbour and two great museums in the Kunsthaus and Voralberg.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I was attending the World Championships ski races. Hats off to the Austrian planners. It was well-organized, fun, exciting. Police presence made me feel safe--not paranoid. Grandstands and viewing places were terrific!Guest review byLaurieMUnited States - 10.0

I love it there, really much.. There's everything for anyone - hiking in summer, skiing in winter, bathing, sauna world, attractions for children. And all about 5 minutes from highway, in sunny valley.Guest review byMarciCzech Republic - 10.0
I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years.
I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years. On top of the magnificent views and mountains, I always recommend it particularly on the size of the town. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels in the centre, which give plenty of options if you ever should get a bad weather day. If you are there for a few days, the Active Card is well worth getting. It includes all lifts, train and buses in the valley, so you can get about easily, trying other towns in the valley, without thinking of additional cost.Guest review byDarrenUnited Kingdom - 8.0
We were only there for a one night stopover.
We were only there for a one night stopover. Had a walk around to find a dinner and saw there was more to the village than we thought. Found a great Chinese restaurant. The town has all necessary amenities, reasonable prices and very close to Bregenz.Guest review byTashaFrance
