Great place, the city itself and the surrounding areas, just amazing. Very clean and tidy, especially if compared to Napoli... Great restaurants, nice places, and of course the views... morning or night, always beautiful to overlook the Bay of Napoli, Vesuvio on the horizon. Best "beach" in my opinion is the Spiaggia La Marinella. Amazing moto trip along the Amalfi coast- perfect for starting in the morning and coming back before 19hrs, you dont need to rent the bike for the entire 24 hours. We stayed in Sorrento and from there visited Amalfi, Ravello, Positano and Capri and of all th places, Sorrento was our favourite. It is smaller and easy to get around and as it seemed less crowded you could really enoy the space. Villa Communae is a lovely spot to watch the sunset and in the summer months there is plenty of space to on the Marine Grande after 5pm to take a dip in the sea and lay on your beach towel - plus more shade and a little cooler. The restaurants were catering for everyone - we particular enjoyed Trattoria Da Emilia - the seafood was amazing and tasted so freah. My sons seafood spaghetti was delicious and we alos shared a mixed grill platter. We also ate at Franks pizza bar in Sorrento which was surprisingly lovely. Dinner at Porruchiana la Favorite was quite the expereience, sat in a lemon grove and after dinner you were invited to walk around the gardens. If you are after sfogliatella, by far the best freshest and crispiest ones were at the La Villa Ristobar made in the morning - I could have eaten those every day! Sorrento is a great base to visit the islands. You just need to be aware that everyone wants cash. Fix the price of the taxis in advance as we were scammed every day from Naples, to the islands. Even the terminal in the bus terminal insists on cash as the tax is 40% For pompei bring an umbrella. Best avoid the summer months as we saw it in 35 degs .
