Parking is free but we were unable to get a parking place close to the Guest House - Whitby is full of character - with cobbled streets - lots of shops and places to eat - we went to both the famous Magpie fish restaurant and the trenches restrarant - both excellent places - there is always something good to see at the pavilion theatre - we went to see the Elvis impersonator named Mark Summers - he was very good - there's a good bus service if you want to make a visit elsewhere and a tour bus to take around places of interestGuest review byTrudyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Whitby is a great place to visit, especially if you enjoy...
Whitby is a great place to visit, especially if you enjoy walking. Those who are sufficiently energetic have a good choice of longer walks along the coast line in both directions as well as inland. For those who are content to stay within the town, there are many shorter walks around the narrow streets in this picturesque place. There are scenic views from all points within the town as well as along either headland. There is a small museum which is so interesting and is set within the immaculately kept gardens of Pannett Park and this is well worth visiting for those who are interested in the local history of Whitby.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

What a charming town, Super friendly & packed full of interesting bits & pieces for all ages. Really enjoyed the Ghost tours, the boat trip & a visit to Dracula's Abbey ( not so much the steps though ). Otherwise chilling on the beach or using as a hub to visit, Scarborough, York, Sandsend, Robin Hood Bay. Whitby is very hilly, so you need to be able to negotiate...
Whitby is very hilly, so you need to be able to negotiate steep slopes, and steps, if you want to explore fully. For those who can’t walk these slopes, the promenade along the sea front provides a good alternative. The streets are quaint - narrow, twisting and turning, and there are lots of tiny, anncient alleyways between buildings. The quayside is tacky and noisy - heaving with tourists during the holiday season. The ruins of the abbey stand on the hillside, and provide a dramatic, gothic backdrop. For those who are fascinated by vampires, or for those who love jet jewelery, and home made fudge, Whitby is the place for you!Guest review byAndreaDenmark

Beautiful location in a hip part of Whitby, very close to the centre, room was gorgeous, clean, comfortable and spacious yet cosy... couldn't have asked for more! Loved the decor too, and the fact that all the rooms are themed around various Whitby legends - we want to go back and sample some of the other rooms!
