The town centre has seen better days but this is true of almost all town centres in the UK. However, this doesn't detract from the relaxed and unhurried atmosphere that makes Scarborough almost therapeutic for those of us who live in big city conditions. The two beaches are almost polar opposites. One vibrant and full of fun. Perfectly set up for families. The other quiet and chilled. Ideal for locals or those who seek peace and comfort. Scarborough is a typical English seaside resort. Fantastic beaches and plenty of amenities for kids and adults alike. If you like fish and chips and ice cream then you re spoilt for choice. There are a number of other types of restaurant and bars. There is also a sizeable town with a wide variety of shops. We're retired and enjoy visiting places to walk, enjoy the scenery, see historical links, and just relax. So Scarborough is a place we've enjoyed very much as it offers us all these things. We can't really comment on facilities relating to family facilities, beach etc etc as it wasn't that kind of holiday for us.
