New updates
Unless otherwise indicated, the features below are available to all Google Workspace customers, and are fully launched or in the process of rolling out. Rollouts should take no more than 15 business days to complete if launching to both Rapid and Scheduled Release at the same time. If not, each stage of rollout should take no more than 15 business days to complete.

Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace users
At Google I/O 2025 we introduced Veo 3, our new latest video generation model that can generate video with audio. Today, Veo 3 is now available in the Gemini app for select Workspace customers.

With Veo 3 you'll notice real-world physics and accurate lip syncing - this includes things like traffic noises in the background of a city street scene, birds singing in a park, and even dialogue between characters. We also introduced a new photo to video feature that allows you to upload a photo and create an 8-second video. You can get creative by animating everyday objects, bringing your drawings and paintings to life or adding movement to nature scenes.

There is a limit of 3 daily uses for enterprise and education users and 5 daily uses for those with the Google AI Ultra for Business add-on. When you are approaching this limit, you’ll see a warning message in the UI. Teams can also generate video clips with Veo in Google Vids as well. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available when using the Gemini app with Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus and the Gemini Business and Education add-ons. | Visit our Help Center to learn more about generating videos with Gemini and which countries & territories. At the moment, Veo 3 is only available on the web and the Gemini mobile app and for users 18+.

Adding Google Calendar sharing to Android devices
In Google Calendar, you can share any calendar you own or have permission to share with other users and groups. This functionality is currently available on web only, and this week we’re excited to extend it to Android devices. The same settings available on web will now be available on your mobile device, which includes the ability to share a calendar with individuals, a domain or the entire public. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about sharing your calendar with someone

Automatically level audio across a video in Google Vids with balance sound
In May, we preannounced the ability to easily adjust sound levels across videos in Google Vids. Starting today, users can automatically level the volume of audio and video clips in their Vids and add audio ducking to background music, which automatically lowers (or "ducks") music when another audio or video clip’s volume starts playing. | Rollout to Rapid Release domains is complete; launch to Scheduled Release domains planned for July 21, 2025. | Available to Google Workspace customers with access to Google Vids. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about controlling audio timing, balance & transitions with audio tracks.

What’s changing

Last year, we empowered educators and students to easily create and collaborate with video by introducing Google Vids to Education Plus customers. Today, we’re excited to expand Vids to all Google Workspace for Education customers.*

Vids can help deepen learning opportunities, up-level instruction, and inspire the next generation of storytellers in a variety of scenarios, for example:
  • Educators can support diverse learning styles and help students retain information with instructional videos and deep dives on complex concepts.
  • Students can work on video projects and review recorded lessons.
  • Education leaders can easily incorporate video in their school newsletters and create internal training videos for staff. Vids is also integrated with Google Workspace for Education tools like Google Classroom, empowering educators to easily assign video projects or post video explainers right to their students.
*Google Workspace for Education customers will receive access to GoogleVids, without AI features.

Who’s impacted

End users

Why you’d use it

Similar to other productivity tools like Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Vids includes an easy-to-use interface and the ability to collaborate in real-time and share videos securely from your browser. You can easily get started with a variety of templates organized by use cases to create a new video. From there, you can add motion with animations, transitions, and photo effects, and customize your video using the Vids royalty free education-friendly stock content library or your own media directly from Google Drive or Google Photos.

Getting started

  • Admins:
    • Google Vids is a Workspace Core Service for Workspace for Education customers.
    • Vids will be ON by default and can be disabled at the organizational level. However, if Google Docs are turned OFF in your domain, Vids access will be unavailable.
    • Visit the Help Center to learn more about turning Vids on or off for users.
  • End users:
    • To start, open Google Vids and choose an option to create a new video. You can create a new video or make a copy of an existing video for editing.
    • You can use Vids on your computer with the two most recent versions of these browsers:
    • Dive into Google Vids with our free, self-paced online training course, designed specifically for educators and available now in the Google for Education Learning Center. You can also leverage this one pager to get a quick summary of what you can do with Vids.

View the most relevant search results in Gmail
Over the years, we’ve implemented updates to help you find exactly what you’re looking for with less effort when searching in Gmail. In March, we announced a smarter search feature powered by AI to quickly show users the most relevant results, and today we’re excited to extend this to businesses. Now, instead of just showing emails in chronological order based on keywords, Gmail search results will factor in elements like recency, most-clicked emails and frequent contacts. With this update, the emails you’re looking for are far more likely to be at the top of your search results — saving you valuable time and helping you find important information more easily. You can also select between “most relevant” and “most recent” results. | Rollout to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains is complete. | Available to Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. | Visit the Help Center to learn more about the search in Gmail.

Chat apps can now create spaces with their own identity using the Google Chat API
Last year, we introduced a feature through the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program that enables Chat apps to create spaces and memberships - using application identity - via the Google Chat API. This update further enhances Chat apps for real-time collaboration and allows for even more sophisticated and autonomous Chat apps by eliminating the need to create spaces and memberships on behalf of a user. This week, we’re excited to announce that this is now generally available for Google Workspace developers. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Available to all Google Workspace customers. | Visit the Developer blog to see an example and learn more about what this means for developers. You can also visit our developer documentation to explore how to authenticate and authorize Chat apps, and learn how to create spaces and add space members using application identity.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’re expanding the collection of YouTube videos that have AI-suggested questions available. As a result, educators can create even more interactive YouTube assignments in Classroom more quickly and efficiently, with the help of Gemini. Your users can now express interest in upgrading their Google Workspace subscription
We’re introducing a simple way for Workspace end users to request an upgraded edition of Google Workspace from their admins. To send this request, Workspace end users will see a path to request an upgraded Workspace edition including additional Gemini features when they interact with Gemini, such as with the Gemini icon displayed across Workspace apps. This interaction will provide an end user a path to complete a request form for an upgraded Workspace edition. Super admins will receive this request by email, and from there they can choose to upgrade their Workspace subscription directly in the Admin console. | Admins can disable these requests at any time in the Admin console by going to Account > Account Settings > Gemini for Google Workspace, and deselecting the ‘User-requested upgrades’ setting — use this article in our Help Center for more information. | Please note this is only available for customers in the US and India with fewer than 300 licenses. | Rolling out now to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. | Learn more about Gemini for Workspace, including our recent Gemini for Workspace announcements.
