He/they. I am just a hippie who loves nature and science and who wants to do some good in the world.
I'm trying to learn more about identifying things. Any help is welcome
If I'm a little blunt, it's because I'm autistic. If there's ambiguity please assume I'm saying/asking/doing things in good faith
If you don't want me to ID your unknowns, annotate your observations, etc., just let me know and I'll put ¬_user_id in my saved searches and then I won't even see your observations
Please @ me if you want me to correct annotations I've done or withdraw IDs I've made or anything like that. Especially annotations, as they are harder for other users to change
not iNat related but I'm trans, and I want to help people who are not trans understand it, so feel free to ask me questions about that
Some things I do on this site
Annotating insects in Utah, USA, adding fields "Name of Associated Plant" to tell what plant they are on when I recognize it, and "Behavior" if they are mating or eating or something else interesting
Putting USA Unknowns broad categories (Things I've put IDs on that have since been ID'd to species)
I am an existing iNat user and I made this separate iNat account to identify and post observations that are not near my house. This is because I really wanted a trans profile pic -- I feel like the morally correct way to exist in the world at this time is for me to be "out" as a trans person/about trans issues wherever it is safe, so that people can see me as a person and get closer to seeing trans people as people -- but I do not feel that it is safe to do so on an account that has public information that could be used to find me if someone had ill intentions. My understanding is that this is within the TOS because I'm not evading a block or pretending to be someone else. If I'm wrong, staff can let me know and I will log out of here forever. It would be better if you don't just delete the account, because you would also be deleting tens of thousands of annotations which will take dozens of hours for others to redo.
