Description

FOOD TRAY SYSTEM
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
[0001] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/533,846 filed on July 18, 2017 and entitled INSERT ABLE TRAY, which is hereby incorporated by reference
FIELD OF INVENTION
[0002] The present invention generally relates to a food tray system for a beverage receptacle, and more specifically to a tray adapted to be connected to or integrated with a beverage container or receptacle for holding food or beverage items.
BACKGROUND
[0003] Concession stands at arenas, stadiums, fairs, and the like provide a wide variety of food and beverage options for patrons. Often times patrons will purchase one or more beverages as well as food in the same visit to a concession stand, to avoid revisiting long lines or to bring back concessions for friends. The common problem however is carrying both food and beverages together.
[0004] Arenas and stadiums often supply drink carriers for patrons who purchase multiple beverages to assist in carrying the beverages. However, there is currently no workable solution offered by arenas for carrying both food and beverages together. Even for a single beverage and food item purchase, patrons are forced to carry their purchase with two separate hands. [0005] Similarly, at cocktail parties, party goers often enjoy both a cocktail and food together. However, lack of table space at a cocktail party can lead to party goes holding both their beverage and food plat at the same time. The common problem becomes attempting to eat food off of the plate while holding ones beverage.
[0006] For some beverages, such as Bloody Marys, connoisseurs often enjoy a large variety of garnishes, including pickles, olives or stuffed olives, cheese, bacon, lemons or limes, or even other more creative and unique garnishes. When a large number of garnishes are inserted into the Bloody Mary beverage container, it may be difficult to drink the beverage. However, removing the garnishes from the glass or receptacle requires a plate that then must be carried in a separate hand.
[0007] Accordingly, an improved food tray for a beverage container is needed.
SUMMARY
[0008] A food tray sytem is generally provided. The food tray includes a plate portion having an opening therein. An insert portion may be connected to the plate portion at the opening and may extend away from the opening. The insert portion may be sized and shaped to correspond to a beverage container and may be insertable into the beverage container such that the plate portion is supported on a rim of the beverage container.
[0009] In an embodiment, a food tray may include a plate and a receptacle portion. The plate may include an opening therein, and the receptacle portion may extend away from the opening. The receptacle portion may include a base at its bottom configured to support a glass or beverage container. The receptacle portion may be sized and shaped to receive the beverage container therein and support its weigh. When inserted into the receptacle portion, the beverage container may extend above the plate to provide a barrier between any food items on the plate and a beverage within the container.
