Definitions
- the present invention relates to a vehicle airbag device, and particularly to an airbag device employing an active vent mechanism.
- an airbag is a so-called driver airbag that inflates from the vicinity of the center of a steering wheel of an automobile and protects the driver, or is deployed downward inside an automobile window so as to impact or roll over in the lateral direction of the vehicle.
- a curtain airbag that protects an occupant in the event of a rollover accident
- a side airbag that is deployed on the side of the occupant (side of the seat) to protect the occupant in the event of a lateral impact.
- an active vent mechanism that opens and closes a vent hole in response to an occupant entering the airbag has been proposed.
- front airbag devices that employ an active vent mechanism, it is desirable to appropriately control the amount of gas discharged from the vent hole.
- a so-called front airbag device that protects a driver's or passenger's passenger who has a strong impact on the head and neck of the passenger.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above situation, and an object thereof is to provide an airbag device capable of appropriately controlling the amount of gas discharged from a vent hole.
- an airbag device includes an airbag that inflates and restrains an occupant in a vehicle; a gas generator that generates inflation gas that inflates and deploys the airbag; An active vent mechanism provided on the airbag and capable of exhausting gas inside the airbag.
- the active vent mechanism includes a first vent hole formed in the airbag; a part of the active vent mechanism is coupled to an outer surface of the airbag, and the vent hole can be opened and closed according to an internal pressure of the airbag.
- a connecting member having one end connected to the patch and the other end entering the airbag and connected to the airbag; a part of the patch provided near the first vent hole; An opening through which a part of the connecting member penetrates; a generally cylindrical regulating member through which the connecting member is inserted inside the airbag, and surrounding the opening within the airbag
- a regulating member having a first end connected to the inner surface and a second end connected to the connecting member in a sealed state; a release means for reducing the tension of the connecting member; Provided.
- the patch When the airbag is fully deployed, the patch operates to close the first vent hole by the tension of the connecting member, and when the tension of the connecting member is lowered by the release means, the patch Is operable to be released from the outer surface of the airbag and exhausted from the first vent hole.
- substantially cylindrical is a tube shape in which both ends are released in a state before connection, and in a state where it is actually connected to the inner surface of the airbag and the connection member, for example, a flat triangular pyramid It can be a state.
- the “sealed state” means a state in which almost no gas leaks from the connecting portion.
- the patch closes the first vent hole by the tension of the connecting member and the regulating member. It will be possible to prevent no leakage.
- the locations where gas leaks mainly include the periphery of the first vent hole and the periphery of the opening, but gas leakage can be appropriately suppressed or prevented at any location.
- the amount of gas exhausted from the first vent hole can be appropriately controlled by adjusting the size and shape of the regulating member.
- the regulating member is elongated along the connecting member, the fee for raising the patch (movable region) is widened, and as a result, a large amount of gas can be exhausted from the first vent hole.
- the restricting member is made small (short)
- the movable region of the patch becomes small, and the amount of gas exhausted also decreases. In this way, the exhaust amount of gas can be appropriately controlled depending on the design of the regulating member.
- the amount of gas exhaust can be controlled by adjusting the shape of the patch itself and the range of connection (sewing) to the outer surface of the airbag. If the patch connection range is reduced, when the patch is detached from the airbag, the gap between the patch and the first vent hole is increased, and a large amount of gas is exhausted from the gap. On the other hand, even if the patch has the same size and the same shape, if the connection range (fixed range) is widened, the gap between the patch and the first vent hole is reduced when the patch is separated from the airbag. The amount of exhaust is suppressed.
- the release means may be configured to break the other end of the connecting member.
- a mechanically or electrically operable cutter can be used.
- the timing of lowering (releasing) the tension of the connecting member is arbitrary. For example, when the collision relative speed of the vehicle is high, that is, when the G at the time of the collision is high, the physique of the passenger is large (heavy weight) ) Sometimes it is preferable to delay the release of the connecting member. In this case, the release timing of the connecting member is determined based on the detection result of the seat slide amount (seat position) and / or the mass (weight) of the occupant seated on the seat.
- one end is connected to the occupant side and the other end is connected to the inflator side, and a tether that regulates the deployment shape of the airbag can be provided.
- the other end of the connecting member is connected to the tether, and the tension of the connecting member can be reduced as the tension of the tether decreases. In this case, since the decrease in the tension of the tether itself functions as the release means, it is possible to omit the release means as a separate member.
- the connecting member may be formed integrally with the patch or may be configured as a separate body. When the connecting member is a separate member from the patch, it can be a belt-like member connected to the patch.
- a second vent hole can be formed in the patch.
- the second vent hole may be formed to overlap with a position facing the first vent hole.
- the second vent hole preferably has a smaller opening area than the first vent hole.
- the opening can be slit-shaped. It is sufficient that there is a gap that allows the end of the patch or the connecting member to slide.
- the patch can be connected to the outer surface of the airbag at least when the edge on the opening side is a near edge and the opposite side opposite to the near edge is a far edge. .
- a part of side edge part which connects the said near edge part and the said far edge part can be connected with the outer surface of the said airbag.
- the airbag can be molded by connecting a front panel positioned on the occupant side during inflation and deployment and an outer edge portion of the back panel positioned on the opposite side of the occupant by an outer peripheral sewing section. At this time, it can be set as the structure where the said far edge part of the said patch is connected with the said airbag by the said outer periphery sewing part.
- the present invention is particularly effective in a driver airbag that is accommodated in a steering wheel, where the accommodation space is greatly limited and the obstacle value of an occupant is likely to deteriorate. That is, the airbag apparatus according to the present invention is capable of appropriate exhaust control while having a simple and compact configuration.

- a release means 39 for reducing the tension of the connecting member 24 at an arbitrary timing.
- the regulating member 26 has an upper end connected to the inner surface of the airbag 12 so as to surround the opening 34 inside the airbag 12, and a lower end connected to the connecting member 24 in a sealed state.
- the regulating member 26 is formed into a cylindrical shape with a flexible cloth similar to that of the airbag 12, and is sewn to the airbag 12 (12 ⁇ / b> B) by sewing 42 (see FIG. 3) around the opening so that one end covers the opening 34. It is fixed against.
- the lower end of the restricting member 26 is connected by sewing 44 (see FIG. 3) so as to be completely fixed to the connecting member 24. For this reason, in the portion of the sewing 44, the restricting member 26 and the connecting member 24 operate integrally.
- first vent holes 20 is not necessarily limited to one, and a plurality of first vent holes 20 may be formed.
- a second vent hole 32 is formed in the patch 22 so as to overlap the position facing the first vent hole 20.
- the second vent hole 32 has an opening area smaller than that of the first vent hole 20, and gas is always exhausted little by little. The second vent hole 32 can be omitted.
- the patch 22 is preferably made of a flexible fabric made of the same material as the airbag, for example. As shown in FIG. 2, in the present embodiment, the patch 22 has a fan-like shape or a trapezoidal shape.
- the narrow edge portion 22a can smoothly slide inside the opening 34, and the first vent hole 20 can be covered in a wide range where the wide edge portion 22b is wide.
- the shape of the patch 22 can be changed as appropriate according to the position and size of the first vent hole 20 and the exhaust characteristics of the gas.
- the airbag 12 is formed by connecting a front panel 12 ⁇ / b> F located on the occupant P side during inflation and deployment and an outer edge portion of a back panel 12 ⁇ / b> B located on the opposite side of the occupant P by an outer peripheral sewing portion 30. Molded. At this time, as shown in FIG. 2, the far edge portion 22 b of the patch 22 is connected to the back panel 12 ⁇ / b> B by the outer peripheral sewing portion 30.
- the connecting member 24 can be formed integrally with the patch 22. In this case, it can be formed so that the width gradually becomes narrower as it goes from the near edge portion 22a of the patch 22 to the inside of the airbag 12, or it can be made a constant width from the middle. As another method, the patch 22 and the connecting member 24 can be configured separately.
- the connecting member 24 can be a flexible belt-like member, and can be connected to the adjacent edge portion 22a of the patch 22 by sewing, for example.
- the release means is to break the other end of the connecting member 24, and for example, a cutter 39 that can be operated mechanically or electrically can be used.
- the rear end portion of the connecting member 24 is cut by the release means (cutter) 39 at an arbitrary timing. Then, the tension of the connecting member 24 is lowered, the patch 22 is detached from the outer surface of the airbag 12, and exhaust is started from the first vent hole 20. After the gas discharged from the first vent hole 20 hits the patch 22, it is exhausted to the outside from the left and right sides of the patch 22.

- the patch 22 swells like a paraglider, and the inflation gas is discharged from both released sides.
- the patch 22 does not rise any further, so that the discharge amount of the expansion gas can be easily predicted.
- the amount of gas discharged from the airbag 12 can be generally adjusted by the opening area of the first vent hole 20, but is also adjusted by the size and shape of the regulating member 26 in addition to the opening area of the first vent hole 20.
- the regulating member 26 is elongated along the connecting member 24, a movable region where the patch 22 is lifted is expanded, and as a result, a large amount of gas can be exhausted from the first vent hole 20.
- the restricting member 26 is made smaller (shorter), the movable region of the patch 22 becomes smaller and the amount of gas exhausted also decreases. In this way, the exhaust amount of gas can be appropriately controlled depending on the design of the regulating member 26.
- the patch 22 closes the first vent hole 20 due to the tension of the connecting member 26, so that it is possible to prevent undesired (unexpected) leakage of the inflation gas.
- the locations where the gas leaks are mainly the periphery of the first vent hole 20 and the periphery of the opening 34, but the gas leakage can be appropriately suppressed or prevented at any location.
- (Patch variations) 4A and 4B are plan views showing the structure around the active vent of the driver airbag device according to the present invention.
- the patch 22 described above is shown in FIG. As shown in FIG. 4A, only the far edge 22b of the patch 22 is fixed to the airbag 12 by sewing 30, so that the gas discharged from the first vent hole 20 is left and right of the patch 22. It will be exhausted from both sides.
- the exhaust amount of gas can be controlled.
- the connecting range of the patch 22 if the connecting range of the patch 22 is reduced, the gap between the patch 22 and the first vent hole 20 becomes larger when the patch 22 is detached from the airbag 12. A large amount of gas is exhausted from the gap.
- FIG. 4B if the connection range of the patch 22 to the airbag 12 is widened, the gap between the patch 22 and the first vent hole 20 is reduced when the patch 22 is separated from the airbag 12. It becomes smaller and the exhaust amount of gas is suppressed.

Abstract
