Definitions
- the present invention relates to a container intended to be carried by a woman for the retention of menstrual flow and emptying thereof.
- US5827248 is more evolved and similar in some respects to the current invention.
- the vessel is cup-shaped and has a drain pipe at its outlet with various valve variants, but none like the one presented.
- the present invention provides a container for menstrual retention and emptying, comprising a cup-shaped body that at its base has a hole that communicates with a flexible tube for draining menstrual fluid, and a closure system .
- the proposed drainage tube has several wall thicknesses, in particular a successive thin wall section and a thick wall section, the thick wall section having a thicker wall thickness than the thin wall section, so that the The thin-walled section allows easy bending because it is weaker by being blinded by its middle zone, preventing the passage of liquid and acting as a valve.
- the proposed menstrual cup When the proposed menstrual cup is in use, it is introduced into the vaginal cavity, with the cup-shaped body in the deepest part and the drainage tube directed outwards, so that the menstrual flow is collected by said body and directed towards said duct for evacuation.
- the bending of the tube throttles the thin-walled section, retaining the menstrual flow inside the cup-shaped body.
- the tube should be kept folded, and it can be unfolded to empty said menstrual cup without requiring its extraction.
- the drainage tube has the thin wall section adjacent to the hole of the container and then has the thick wall section that has a wall thickness greater than that of the thin wall section.
- the drainage pipe has a first section of thick wall adjacent to the hole, then a second section corresponding to the section of thin wall, followed by a third section of thick wall, the second section having a thickness thinner than the first section and the third section. This ensures that tube bending will occur primarily by the second section of thin wall.
- the drain tube may also include a final section at the far end of the container, with a thinner wall thickness than the thick wall section, which softens contact with the vaginal wall and facilitates occlusion by pressing.
- the end of the drain tube may be configured to rest directly on the vaginal wall itself while remaining bent.
- said section of thick wall will have a length of at least three times its outer diameter. It is also proposed that the end of the drain tube is configured to be housed and coupled in a complementary recess formed in the container, keeping the tube bent.
- the cup-shaped container has a perimeter ring of its upper part, or a double perimeter ring with an intermediate space to improve the tightness.
- the aforementioned perimeter ring may include notches that facilitate bending the cup for insertion.
- the body of the container admits different forms, such as cup shape or flat cup shape, and can even become flat.
- the end of the drainage tube when it is bent, is placed in a concavity in the side wall of the cup-shaped container that allows to accommodate all or part of the end of the tube, retaining it bent.
- the drain tube when folded, is housed in a recess defined by the inside of a concentric fin to the cup-shaped container that hangs from the upper edge, and from the outer side wall of the cup.
- the drain tube when folded, houses its end in a hole defined by the inside of a concentric fin to the cup-shaped container, which hangs from the outer side wall of the cup, below the upper edge, and of the outer side wall of the cup itself.
- the ring of the upper edge of the container can have between one and four notches that produce a narrowing of thickness of said ring from the inside to the cup to facilitate its bending and its introduction.
- the shape of the upper edge of the ring of the container with the notches will preferably be inclined with respect to the horizontal.
- the ring of the container will be, according to another embodiment, a double ring with two rings connected through a space defined by a membrane or by the cup wall itself.
- the flat-shaped container is uncovered from below, with a diameter of the base greater than its height, which has the upper disc-shaped base with a hole of which the drainage pipe that has a first section adjacent to the hole that has a first wall thickness hangs, then the second section of thin wall that has a wall thickness thinner than the first section, which is followed by the third section of thick wall that has a wall thickness greater than that of the third section of thin wall, and ends with a fourth final section that has wall thickness thinner than the third section of thick wall, wherein said upper disc has a rounded edge of the that hangs a membrane or wall of the cylinder that ends in a ring of diameter similar to that of the edge of the upper disc, thus forming a gap defined by the lower part of the upper disc, the lower ring and the drain tube, where the end of the drain tube
- the flat cup-shaped container is uncovered from above, and has a diameter of the base diameter greater than its height, which has the bottom disc-shaped base with a hole from which the drainage pipe hangs. it has a first section adjacent to the hole that has a first wall thickness, then the second section of thin wall that has a thinner wall thickness than the first section, followed by the third section of thick wall that has a thickness from wall larger than the third section of thin wall, and ends with a fourth final section that has thinner wall thickness than the third section of thick wall, where said lower disc-shaped base has a rounded edge from which a membrane or cylinder wall that ends up in a ring of diameter similar to that of the edge of the lower disk.

- Figure 2 is a sectional view of the bottom of a cup (2) and of the principle of the drain tube (3) of the container of Fig. 1 when the drain tube is bent upwards by its second section (7), which is the weak part because it has a thin wall thickness, with the blinding zone (12), which is followed by the third section (8) of the drain pipe (3).
- Figure 3 draws the top edge (13) of the cup with a notch (14).
- Figure 4 shows a section of a cup (2) with double ring (15) at its upper edge, with a gap between rings (16).
- Figure 5 is a section of a cup (2) truncated from below, with a skirt or a concentric fin (17) attached to the upper edge (13) of the cup, this fin has a lower edge (18), which defines a gap (19) between the fin and the outer wall of the cup (2).
- the end of the drain tube (3) can be introduced when it is bent.
- the shape of the side walls of said cup (2) is a straight cone.
- Figure 6 is drawn above a section of a cup (2) having a concavity (20) in the side wall to fully or partially accommodate the end of the drain tube (3) when folded up.
- FIG. 7 is an elevation view of a container (1) that is an object of symmetrical revolution with respect to its central axis and has a low cylindrical shape (21) that Remember a thick disk or a large round hollow tablet under which the drain tube (3) hangs. It has an upper disc (22) somewhat inclined towards the hole (5), from whose edges the drain tube (3) with its different parts of different thicknesses (6), (7), (8) and (9). From the edge of the upper disc (23) hangs a membrane (24) whose lower end is a ring (25). This defines a gap (26) between the disc, the membrane, the ring and the drain tube, which will be where the end of the drain tube (3) is housed when it is bent.
- the flat cup shape 21 is the minimum expression of a container with drain tube 3 to retain menstruation.
- the novel embodiments presented are improvements to the existing apparatus and basically consist of the drain pipe 3, which has parts of different wall thicknesses 6, 7, 8, 9 but preferably with the same inner diameter, that is, a diameter constant interior, so the larger outer diameters protrude outward.
- the constant inner diameter favors the transit of vaginal discharge and facilitates cleaning.
- the essence of the operation of the drain pipe 3 as a valve lies in the second section 7 of thin wall and in the third section 8 of normal wall, allowing easy bending of the second section 7, being weaker than the attached sections 6 and 8, what about this This way it is blinded by its middle zone 12, preventing the passage of liquid through it, which acts as a valve.
- the so-called normal wall and the so-called thin wall refer to compared thicknesses, that is to say that the thin wall is a wall of smaller thickness than the wall called normal, and that the normal wall is thicker than the so-called thin wall, without this establishing any range of thicknesses.
- first section 6 of the drain tube 3 attached to the outlet of the hole 5 and of normal or greater thickness than the normal one, with the second section 7 remaining, it has a thinner wall thickness thinner than the first section 6 , between the first section 6 and the third section 8.
- the second section 7 starts directly from the base of cup 2.
- Bending occlusion of the second section 7 occurs when portions of said second section 7 form an angle below about 80 °.
- the third section 8 of the tube 3 is pushed towards the container 1.
- the third section 8 being of normal thickness and therefore less flexible than the second section 7 of thin thickness, the bending will take place as a priority by said second section 7.
- the final part of the third section 8 can rest directly on the vaginal wall which causes it to remain in this position since the third section 8 of the thickest wall of the tube 3 would need a greater force to remove it from it. position that exerts the second section 7 thinner wall.
- the user To unfold the tube 3, the user must overcome this force by stretching said third section 8 downwards by placing the entire tube 3 in a straight or extended position, especially by placing the portions of the second section 7 at an angle of approximately 180 ° to each other, and thus empty.
- the reverse operation is carried out, pushing up the third section 8 whereby the tube is bent along its second section 7 of thin wall, blinding the passage of the liquid.
- fastening systems for the drain tube 3 in the folded position there are some fastening systems for the drain tube 3 in the folded position, said fastening systems being integrated into the container 1, such as: the introduction of the end of the tube 3 under a skirt or a concentric fin 17 of the cup 2, and which can be hung directly from the upper edge 13 of the container 1, or said flap protruding halfway from the side wall of the cup 2, in an area below the upper edge 13. Similar case is the introduction of the end of the drain tube 3 into the hole defined by the disc 22, the membrane 24, the lower ring 25.
- Said cavity 20 has an open cylindrical shape and depending on its depth it can partially or totally accommodate the end of the drain tube 3 to which it fits. If it is fully housed, the end of the pressure tube is inserted through a groove having said cylindrical surface.
- the fastening of the bent drain tube 3 can be in any position if it is directly supported on the vaginal wall, or inside the recess 19 that defines a concentric fin to the cup, or in the recess 26 of a shaped container 1 cylinder diameter of its base greater than its height, reminiscent of the shape of a large tablet.
- the solution of the cavity 20 in the wall of the cup 2 which is discretionary, that is, can only be placed in one cavity, or several, but not in any position.
- discretionary gaps could be made under the fins or in a partial fin 17, both in cup 2 and in a flat cup 21.
- the tube 3 can have a fourth section 9 of thin wall arranged after the third section 8.
- the fastening of the bent tube 3 will be carried out mainly through said fourth section 9.
- the outlet hole 10 of the tube 3 will be at its end which will be located in the third section 8 or, if there is a fourth section 9, in said fourth section 9.
- a grid 11 above the outlet hole 5 acts as a filter for possible lumps so that the drain tube 3 cannot be blocked.
- the vacuum effect that users can experience when extracting a cup is usually broken by the entry of air through small holes made in the side wall of the cup, just below the ring corresponding to the top edge of the cup. These small holes are inclined with respect to the surfaces of the side wall of the cup and are usually between 1 and 2 mm in diameter. In the case of the invention they could still exist, but they make no sense if the cup 2 is introduced with the open drain tube 3 extended without bending, which communicates the atmospheric pressure with the indoor air. Also, in the extraction, if the bending is removed and the tube is extended drain 3 emptying its contents and then proceed to complete extraction of the container 1 with said tube 3 open there will be no vacuum effect.
- This invention does not seem to exist for these devices, nor does the fastening systems of the tube bent upwards to keep the passage of the liquid blinded. Said system makes the container 1 with drainage and valve system very simple in design, materials and manufacturing.
- One or more notches 14 in the inner part of the ring of the upper edge 13 of the cup 2 makes the wall thickness smaller in these notches, which causes its weakening, and any bending effort will be smaller, besides being less Bulky and more compact.
- Four notches 14 diametrically opposed and equidistant from each other, means that, for one of the most usual folds of the cup, less force has to be applied than in the same cup without notches, and that said folding results in less volume and therefore Make your entry easier.
- a double ring 15 of the upper part of the cup is intended to improve the tightness of possible drops losses.
- This double joint 15 has a gap 16 between rings. The tightness is more assured in this way.
- a container 1 in the form of a flat cup 21 or low cylinder is hollow below. Its upper base is a disc 22 with a hole 5 from which the drain pipe 3 hangs, which when it is in a folded position due to its thinner wall area 7 acts as a valve, closing the passage of bleeding that temporarily accumulates in the cavity itself vaginal, until it empties through the drain tube 3.
- the drainage tube 3 when folded, allows its end 9 and / or 8 to be anchored in the recess 26 formed below the disc 22, the walls of the membrane 24 and the lower ring 25.
- Half-day emptying, without removal of said cup flat, is achieved by applying a small force down on the third section 8 of the tube, whereby the end 9 and / or 8 will exit the hole 26 to place the extended tube and thus empty the container.
- the reverse operation is performed by applying an upward force in the third section 8 so that it bends by its second section 7 of thinner wall and overcoming the resistance so that again the end 9 and / or 8 between the gap 26 under the disc 22.
- the container 1 in the form of a flat cup 21 or low cylinder can have the disc 22 located halfway down the cylinder. In the down position, disk 22 it would be the bottom base of the cylinder and it would be uncovered from above.
- the hole 5 of the disc 22 from which the drain tube 3 hangs has a first section 6 of normal wall thickness, a second section of thin wall thickness 7, a third section 8 of normal wall thickness and a fourth section 9 of thin wall thickness, in addition, said lower disk has a rounded edge from which a membrane 24 or cylinder wall ends up in a ring of diameter similar to that of the edge of the lower disk, thus forming a hollow above which collects in all or part of the menstrual fluid, when the drain tube 3 is bent and does not let the liquid pass. In this case the end of the drain tube 3 rests directly on the vaginal wall. The menstrual flow can be emptied by the drain tube 3 when it is stretched from its position by its third section 8 and said tube is extended.
- Figs. 1 to 3 wherein the container 1 has the shape of a cup 2 with a drain tube 3 at its bottom. In the section you can see the wall thicknesses 4 of the cup 2, as well as those of the drain tube 3.
- the hole 5 communicates the bottom of the cup 2 with the drain tube 3 that has its outlet 10.
- the first section 6 of the drain tube 3 having a normal wall thickness compared to the second section 7 which has a thin wall thickness. It is followed by the third section 8 of normal thickness and a fourth section of the thin wall end 9.
- the container 1 is shaped like a cup 2, from which the base drains a drain tube 3 that communicates with the inside of the cup 2 through a hole 5 and with the outside through the outlet hole 10.
- the upper edge 13 of the cup 2 is like a ring of approximately circular section and has a notch 14.
- the drain tube 3 has no first section or is very small, but directly has the second section 7 of thin wall that is attached to the lower end of the cup. Said section 7 has a thin wall thickness that gives a lot of flexibility in this area. It is followed by a middle or third section 8 of greater wall thickness of the tube than the previous one, which ends in the fourth section 9 with a thin wall thickness similar to that of the second section 7.
- the tube 3 bends down the weak part 7 by pushing it up the middle part 8, the tube being blinded in this zone 12. In this way it closes the passage of the liquid and the end 9 is placed under the upper edge 13 of the cup, between the side wall of the cup and the vaginal wall, which is anchored in this position.
- the shape of the side walls of the cup 2 is rather conical or parabolic and rather slender, topped at its upper edge 13 by a solid inner ring of the same cup material and of a certain thickness.
- the upper edge 13 of the cup 2 has four notches 14 diametrically opposite two to two and equidistant from each other that will serve to improve the folding for the introduction of said cup 2.
