  • the mode of application of force on the inner rod 51 could be manual, mechanical, magnetic, electrical or any other suitable mode to cause tension along the axis of the flexible connector 52.
  • the application member 40 may have a substantially circular outside cross-section, but the case in which the deformable application member 40 has a cross-section of different shape, such as polygonal, is also contemplated by this disclosure.

  • FIGS. 4 and 6 illustrate the application member 40 in its angularly deformed state, and also show the surface 22 having the second color in contrast with first color/colors of the upper and lower cap members 10, 20. More particularly, the rotation of the upper cap member 10 with respect to the lower cap member 20 results in the axial displacement of the inner rod 51 thereby displacing the connector 52 along with it. The displacement of the inner rod 51 causes the application member 40 to angularly deform from a straight configuration to a curved configuration (See, for example, FIGS. 3-6). The application member 40 is suitably deformed along a desired axis. Also, the user can control the magnitude of deformation during use by controlling the degree of rotation of the upper cap member 10.
  • the application member 40 may be chosen according to the cosmetic or care product to be applied, be it lipstick, eye liner, eye shadow, mascara, foundation, blusher, ointment etc. More specifically and as shown, the application member 40 is used to apply mascara on eyelashes. Depending upon the substance being used in the container 3, a variety of sizes and shapes of the application member 40 can be utilized.
  • the application member 40 may be constructed of a porous or non-porous rubber, fabric mesh, felt material, foamed polymers, sponge material, HytrelTM, TPE or any other suitable material. Also, the application member 40 could have any suitable shape depending on the kind of application required. It could have a shape other than cylindrical such as ovular, tapered or any other suitable shape.
  • the application member 40 may be produced from an elastomer or any other elastic material allowing for compression and/or expansion of the application member 40.
  • the flexible connector 52 may be made out of a material selected from a polymeric material and metals.
  • the application member 40 is an individually molded component, for example, the application member 40 is molded as a single piece from at least two materials by bi- injecti on-molding or multi -injection, of different materials, for example, materials of different hardness.
  • the application member 40 includes at least two portions namely a first portion 44 which is a soft portion and a second portion 46 which is a hard portion.

More particularly, in the deformed state of the application member, the soft portion will form a concave side of the application member 40 and the hard portion will form a convex side of the application member 40.
  • the concave side lets the soft tines 44b gather together thereby resulting in higher density of soft tines 44b for application while the convex side lets the hard tines 46b stretch farther away from each other thereby giving a less dense hard tines 46b for application on a surface such as eyelashes.
  • the hard tines 46b of the convex portion will provide better combing of the eyelashes and the soft tines 44b on the concave portion will provide volumizing and curling of the eyelashes.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un applicateur de produit cosmétique comprenant un élément d'application qui est conçu pour prendre une configuration incurvée à partir d'une configuration droite et vice versa.
