- the present application relates to wooden joists and, more particularly, to a wooden joist used in a top- chord bearing configuration.
- Wooden joists are horizontal supporting members that run from wall to wall, wall to beam, or beam to beam to support a ceiling, roof or floor. Wooden joists have a pair of horizontal chords, interrelated by a board in an I- joist configuration, or by V-shaped webs, in an open- joist or joist configuration.
- hangers are used to interrelate the joists to the beams .
- Hangers are brackets that are secured to the beam, and that define a U-shaped so as to support an end of a joist.
- Hangers are costly items, and require a non- negligible amount of skilled manpower to use.
- Some wooden joists are used in a top-chord bearing configuration. In this configuration, the top chord has an extension projecting beyond the bottom chord at an end of the joist. The extension is seated on top of a beam, when the joist is transversely positioned on a beam.

Abstract
L'invention porte sur une solive en bois. La solive comprend une membrure supérieure en bois, une membrure inférieure en bois, et une section principale comprenant au moins l'un parmi des plaques en bois et des âmes en bois reliées par adhérence à la membrure supérieure en bois et à la membrure inférieure en bois de façon à former au moins l'une parmi une sous-section de solive en I et une sous-section de solive ouverte le long de la section principale de la section en bois. Une configuration d'extrémité à une extrémité de la section principale comprend un poteau en bois s'étendant globalement perpendiculairement entre la membrure supérieure en bois et la membrure inférieure en bois, et est adjacente à la section principale. Une âme diagonale en bois s'étend en diagonal de la membrure supérieure en bois à la membrure inférieure en bois. Un premier ensemble de plaques métalliques est en alignement sur des côtés opposés de la membrure en bois de façon à relier la membrure supérieure en bois à l'âme diagonale. Un deuxième ensemble de plaques métalliques est en alignement sur des côtés opposés de la solive en bois afin de relier l'âme diagonale et le poteau à la membrure inférieure. Un troisième ensemble de plaques métalliques est en alignement sur des côtés opposés de la solive en bois afin de relier la membrure supérieure en bois au poteau.
