Abstract
The invention relates to a laser Doppler velocimeter comprising a device for generating a first light beam having a frequency f0 and a second light beam, the frequency of which is frequency-shifted relative to the first frequency by a frequency fS and thus has a second frequency f0+fS. The first light beam is reflected on a moving object, said reflected first light beam having a Doppler-shifted frequency f0+fD. The laser Doppler velocimeter further comprises a detection device for determining a beat frequency fSW from the superposition of the second light beam having the frequency f0+fS and the reflected first light beam having the frequency f0+fD. The invention is characterized in that the device for generating a first light beam and a second light beam that is frequency-shifted by fS encompasses at least one semiconductor laser.
