Abstract
An optical system is disclosed. The optical system includes an image forming device that forms an image in a display plane. The display plane emits image rays within an emitted cone that has an associated emitted angle. The optical system further includes an optical film that has an acceptance cone and an associated acceptance angle. The optical film receives the emitted image rays and substantially transmits the received image rays that are within the acceptance cone, and substantially blocks the image rays that are outside the acceptance cone. The acceptance angle is at least as large as the emitted angle
