Abstract

 プラズマディスプレイパネル(10)と、書込み期間に走査電極に走査パルスを順次印加して書込み動作を行う走査電極駆動回路(43)と、前記プラズマディスプレイパネル(10)の表示領域を複数の領域に分け、これらの領域のそれぞれにおいて、放電セルの総数に対する点灯させるべき放電セル数の割合を部分点灯率として前記領域毎かつサブフィールド毎に検出する部分点灯率検出回路(47)とを備えるプラズマディスプレイ装置において、前記走査電極駆動回路(43)が、前記部分点灯率検出回路(47)において検出された前記部分点灯率が高い領域から先に書込み動作を行うことにより、安定した書込み放電を発生させる。
