Abstract

The present invention refers to a pharmaceutical gel for topical use in dental procedures comprising a local anaesthetic and at least one gelling agent (preferably a carboxyvinyl polymer); said composition has a minimum viscosity of 30 Pa.s, when subjected to a temperature ranging from 5 C to 50 C. The claimed composition allows a higher penetration of the anaesthetic which maintains the drug for a longer time and at a higher concentration on the action site, increases anaesthesia time, reduces its toxicity and restricts the action of the drug to the application site.
