Abstract

[PROBLEMS] A bearing device adapted for use in a wheel and having a rotational speed detector is reduced in weight and size and has improved assemblability to reduce cost of the device. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A sensor holder (10) has a synthetic resin holding section (12) in which a rotational speed sensor (14) is embedded and also has a cover (11) constructed from a circular tube-like fitting section (11a) fitted on an end of an outer member (5), a flange section (11b) extending radially inward from the fitting section (11a) and in intimate contact with an end surface of the outer member (5), and a bottom section (11c) further extending radially inward from the flange section (11b). An inner seal (9) has a slinger (15) and an annular seal plate (17) that is installed on the outer member (5) so as to face the slinger (15) and is formed to have a substantially L-shaped cross-section. An end surface of the seal plate (17) and an end surface of a magnetic encoder (16) are substantially flush with each other. The outer diameter D1 of a shoulder section (23) of an outer joint member (22) is set smaller than the outer diameter D2 of an inner ring (2). An inner end surface (5c) of the outer member (5) and an end surface (2b) of the inner ring (2) are substantially flush with each other.
