　演色性および輝度が高い白色発光を得ることができる白色発光装置を提供する。紫外線半導体発光素子と波長変換材料とを含んでなる第一の発光素子と、赤色半導体発光素子を含んでなる第二の発光素子とが配置して白色発光装置とする。
