Abstract

A distribution device (110), when information on a receiver intended for receiving contents is set, generates activation information made up of instruction information for instructing the activation of the reception function of the receiver and the receiver information. The activation information is incorporated into a sub-transmitted wave of a broadcast wave and distributes the broadcast wave made up of a main transmitted wave and the sub-transmitted wave into which the activation information is incorporated. A receiver (120) receives the sub-transmitted wave of the broadcast wave, detects the activation information made up of the receiver information intended for the reception and the instruction information for instructing the activation of the reception function of the receiver from the sub-transmitted wave, compares the receiver information included in the activation information with information on the receiver, outputs the instruction of the activation of the reception function depending on the result of the comparison, and receives the main transmitted wave.
