Abstract

It is an object to provide a three-dimensional video image photographing device that generates a three-dimensional image with a less load imposed on viewers. A left video image photographing unit (1) and a right video image photographing unit (3) photograph an object and output video image for the left eye and that for the right eye, respectively. A left video image data input unit (2) and a right video image data input unit (4) receive the video image for the left eye and that for the right eye from the left video image photographing unit (1) and the right video image photographing unit (3), respectively. A distance measurement unit (5) is set between the left video image photographing unit (1) and the right video image photographing unit (3) to sequentially measure a distance to the object. A distance data input unit (6) sequentially receives the distance data from the distance measurement unit (5). A cutout width calculation processing unit (7) sequentially calculates a cutout width in accordance with the distance data received by the distance data input unit (6) and a disposing relationship between the left video image photographing unit (1) and the right video image photographing unit (3). An image cutout processing unit (8) receives the cutout width from the cutout width calculation processing unit (7) and cut out a video image for a left eye from its right edge and a video image for a right eye from its left edge. A three-dimensional video image synthesis processing unit (9) generates a three-dimensional video image from the video images cut out by the image cutout processing unit (8).
