Abstract

An optical element unit for optical pickup device, which is simple and inexpensive although applicable for different kinds of optical discs, and an optical pickup device employing such optical element unit. At the time of molding, an upper die (UM) and a lower die (LM) are positioned such that the axis line (UX1) of a cavity (UM1) is aligned with the axis line (LX1) of a cavity (LM1). A lens surface shift of shift amount δ is thereby caused by the axis line (UX2) of a cavity (UM2) and the axis line (LX2) of a cavity (LM2) according to the production error of the upper die (UM) and the lower die (LM). When a plane or a curved surface having a large radius of curvature is employed as the surface (S2) of a second objective lens portion (OBJ2), impact of lens surface shaft is suppressed and an appropriate condensation spot can be formed for the information recording surface (RL2) of a CD by suppressing coma.
