Abstract

A suction device for an electric cleaner has a suction device body having a longitudinal direction, a first rotary brush (30) having multiple rows of first cleaning pieces (31) extending in the longitudinal direction, a second rotary brush (35) placed parallel to the first rotary brush (30) and having multiple rows of second cleaning pieces (36) extending in the longitudinal direction, and a drive source for rotating the first rotary brush (30). First grooves (32c) for holding the first cleaning pieces (31) are formed in a first shaft core member (32). Multiple pairs of holding ridges (37a) and second grooves (37b) are formed at a second shaft core member (37). The multiple pairs of holding ridges (37a) project outward from the peripheral surface of the second shaft core member (37). The second grooves (37b) hold the second cleaning pieces (36) between the pairs of holding ridges (37a). As the first rotary brush (30) is rotated, the holding ridges (37a) are pressed by the first cleaning pieces (31), and this causes the second rotary brush (35) to rotate.
